My dh was sleeved two months ago and every time he eats an egg he pukes!  It might be eating too fast or it might be a sensitivity.

Did anyone else develop an egg issue and did it go away and when?   I am over two years out and while I once barfed an egg from eating too much of it, I have otherwise not had problems with them and am not sure how to help dh.  And its pretty much his favorite thing!!!!     Diane

Eggs were really hard for me.  scrambled made me puke and it took me a while to try again.  poached made me puke and i just gave up.  then i was at a function (about 4 months out)and they had devilled and being the daredevil that i am i decided to not worry about possible projectile vomiting in public.  It was fine so fine in fact that i was eating a devilled egg a couple of times a week.  then i mixed hard boiled in my tuna and loved that and started to split omelets again.  so it took a while but it passed.  It really felt yucky inn my sleeve for a long time. Hope this helps

I don't know what it is about eggs, but many people seem to have problems with them early out. I also puked early out and I tried them again, when I was several months out. No problem and now they are a dietary staple. You could try them cooked different ways, to see if the sensitivity decreases, but it may be too early. Some people don't have any problems, but it seems to be a common problem. On the positive side, once he can tolerate them, they are very filling and the protein stays with you for a long time.

I have noticed that i can't eat eggs either.  Especially real eggs, however if you go to Tim Hortons and get the breakfast sandwich on an english muffin than i can eat eggs.  i think theirs might be cartoned eggs.

I have tried them though every which way, and can't handle them.  I get an upset stomach and I get sick.

It makes me a little sad. 6 months post and they still cause me major grief. Some people say it goes away, some don't.

If there is bread with the egg, I tolerate it better. I've tried every cooked form there is, I just can't do it. I keep hoping it will get better.

For me I puked them once in the beginning.  Then I tried them 2 more times different ways and I was cramping with the runs.  So I am off eggs right now which sucks cause I could eat eggs everyday!  However, I did eat the inside stuff of a deviled egg and that was fine in my tummy.  Someone told me I should try a soft boiled egg. I will wait a couple more months before trying any eggs.
FYI eggs are very difficult to digest for a person with their entire stomach intact, hence the longtime full feeling.  Therefore, for someone like us it may just take some time not to mention some very slow eating.

Hi Diane,

I never had egg issues.....I love em and am currently working on a couple of egg dishes....

You may want to have hubs try just egg whites or Egg Beaters (same thing basically) just to determine is it's the yolk....it could be very well the texture.

Hi Diane,

I was a big egg eater prior to VSG.  Now, not so much.  I really think the issue for me is that they are the purest protein and I really think they fill me with very little.  One egg and I am stuffed to the gills, while I can eat 6 ounces of plain non-fat greek yogurt with no feelings of fullness.  Funny that the yogurt has 17 grams of protein and the egg only 6 but I have a harder time with the lower amount.  This is why I am attributing it to the quality of the protein.  I could be way off, but it was the only thing I could think of.

I can eat a little more egg now at almost 2 years out, but still not much compared to other dense proteins.  Hope he is able to overcome it.

thanks for everybody's thoughts. I am really hoping it was eating too much and to fast (an incident today was not good). OUr plan is for him to stay away from them for a few more weeks and then try again.  He has been fine with them when I put them in a sort of egg drop soup. so i think its easy to eat too much too fast because they are soft and go down easily and then Uhoh, too late.

He really loves eggs and has no cholesterol problems so hope he can get back to them. Diane
