Please give me a realistic answer

I am scheduled for VSG on Feb. 6th.  I understand of course I cannot drive if on pain meds.  I do payroll at my office and am the only one who knows how.  It will need to be submitted exactly one week after my surgery.  Is it practical to think I'll make it to work to get this accomplished?

I had surgery on a Monday morning and was at work 3am on Saturday.

It is possible just depends on what you do. My job is mostly sedentary.

Good luck with your operation and loss.

I had my surgery on Thursday morning, got out Friday morning and went back to work Monday morning. So I would think a week afterward would be realistic.

I think the realistic answer is that it depends.  Your age, general health, and natural healing ability as well as the ease of the surgery will determine how ready you may be to return to work.  So sorry to say there isn't a definitive answer.  I probably could have done some work after a week, but I was still tired and might not have been able to work 8 hours straight.  I was out for 2 weeks for my sedentary job... that said, I was SMO and 50 this year, so I wasn't in the best shape to start with.  Good luck to you!

Barring complications, yes, it's realistic. I went back to my desk job after a week, and was driving on Friday after my Monday surgery. But as insurance, you might want to do ahead anything you can. Good luck!

I own a bookkeeping firm and do all of the payroll for our clients, with a few exceptions. I had surgery on a Tuesday and did payroll on Thursday. I DID get one of my employees to look it over to make sure I wasn't all overly happy and paying someone an extra few grand or something.

You should be fine. Just plan on it taking a little longer. Don't overdo it. I'm a bit of an overachiever and workaholic so I tend to jump back in - having said that, we're a virtual company so I work at home

I had VSG on Nov. 23rd and was back to work as a 3rd grade teacher on Dec. 1st. It is definitely possible, but I did experience some fatigue toward the end of the school day. Just be careful to not engage in any heavy lifting. Otherwise, I think that you'll be ok to go back. Take it easy and good luck to you......it's gonna be terrific!

You will need to have a relatively "smooth" recovery and you will need to be vigilant about your drinking, not testing limits by trying to eat something you shouldn't, and get lots of rest for the first few weeks.  But yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus...lol

I was kinda the poster child for annoying post op problems that kept me throwing up and feeling icky so much that I needed to have lots of time off.
