I would see if you can get a laptop and do it from home, if possible. I wouldn't think you would have a problem if you went in for a day 1 week post-op, but to be safe I would try to do it from home if possible. I had surgery on Friday and was working part-time from home by monday, full-time from home by the following monday, and back to a full schedule (including a 1hr commute each way) at 2 weeks post-op.

Definitely possible, but you should plan on having a shorter day, and feeling lethargic - plan on it taking longer than usual.

Good luck!

You have a month to go, why can't you show someone else how to do it. Or can you do it from home? Real answer.....if all goes well yes you can go back to work in a week but remember this is major surgery so why pu**** if you don't have to.  You need to rest and heal.

Because it is a small office and I work with 63 roughneck drillers.  We are not networked for me to do this at home and I would have no access to their work tickets.

I THOUGHT I was a soldier and could handle ANYTHING until my surgery.  I felt like crap, moved like crap and just wanted to shoot somebody UNTIL 13 days after surgery.

I could have easily driven to work and done payroll a week out.  I was done with pain meds on day 3 and drove myself to the grocery store for something to do on day 4, no problem.

I had my surgery on Weds the 28th and went back to work this Weds for partial days. I do have to say I feel loopy and dizzy alot, so I don't trust myself to drive yet. I haven't taken any pain meds, not even tylenol since the weekend. I think it's the weakness getting to me. Hopefully you have a short drive, and then be sure to double check your work

I had a very easy recovery, and I could have done that.  I guess the question is what's the backup plan if you have a difficult recovery and can't do it?  I think your company might want to consider contracting with a temp firm as a backup.

I could happen!  At a week out, I was out shopping.  It wasn't until a week and a half out that I ended up with major pains (having to do with healing sutures).  Good luck!
