Im really freaking out. I usually do not freak out with fluctuations in the scale but I think I have a screw loose today.

In the last 2 weeks, Ive gone up 6 lbs. It started 2 weeks ago- went up 3 lbs, and stayed. And then a week later, it's up another 2-3 lbs. Ive had a couple bad days where I've eating 1400-1600 calories ( I cant even believe im at a point in my life where those kinds of calories are bad days lol). Probably 150 g of carbs on those couple of days (by a couple I mean 3-4 in the last 4-5 weeks).

Even with my extra eating, im doing extra work outs (anywhere from 60-120 minutes). There's no way I've eaten 3500 x 6lbs, but what the hell is going on?

My body feels out of whack, my TOM is now 2.5 weeks over due (and trust me, im not pregnant - impossible). But, 2 weeks is a long time for a classic stall, considering the amount the scale is up.

Im reducing my carbs for now, but someone, talk me off this ledge. I cant even comprehend the possibility of staying at this weight (is this bad karma for my remark to my mother that even if I never lost another lb, id be happy!!!??).

I just need some support I guess - Im not even tempted to continue with my carb fests, and im happy to eat my protein dense meals and continue exercising, but this really really sucks.

What is your fluid like? Are the foods you are eating high in sodium? When I gain I know it is 100% water retention. I re-evaluate whether I had been drinking enough versus how much sodium I consumed and for me, they are completely related. I upped my fluids to 80-100 per day and the retention dropped after a day and the fat loss has resumed.

I have had more sodium than normal, and my water has usually been 80+ oz (which is low for me - usually I aim for 100+). I guess if it was just one week, id think it was sodium and/or bloating. But 2 weeks?? I mean I guess it could be water retention, constipation all in line with a horribly timed stall.....

It really sounds a lot like what my loss cycle goes through. Strangely enough, I lose weight before my period, then the week or so after I just retain like crazy and the scale won't budge anywhere but upward. I do think it has to do with your period and the stuff you're eating. Maybe try backing up a bit to a protein shake or two a day, plenty of water and just the meats and veggies for whatever other meal you want to have that day. The basics are a great way to test whether or not what you've been doing lately is the wrong thing!

Two weeks at this time of the year doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility to me.  There is just so much going on and so much crap food available water could easily sneak up on you.  That, combined with your TOM irregularity puts a double whammy on it.  Don't flip yet, just keep on keeping on with your awesomeness and give it a little time, If you don't see a reversal within a a few weeks then I'd persue it with the doc.

As you said... it's not real weight. Something else is going on. Keep working out. If your period doesn't start in a week, I'd think about hitting the gyno. Deep breaths and hang in there. This is temporary, but I can see me freaking out about this too if I were in your place.

It's probably just rebound and it will fall back off, but until then look at your food and exercise logs and see if you can tighten up anywhere.

Im really irritated with this TOM thing - pre-op, i went months without a period, but right before/after, for the last 6 months, it was much too regular for me...and now, all of a sudden -

I need a screwdriver to tighten whatever bolt is loose in my head - i cant believe ive spent the better part of my morning even thinking about this. I guess that means its time to get up and out of the house.

Ah, you're obsessive just like I am about things. WHY the heck... yup, that's me. Why why why... hang in there. It's temporary. You KNOW it's temporary, but it's just playing with your head right now.

I don't understand the 3500 x 6 deal but you are much smaller now so calories go a Kong way. At 280 my surgeon and I learned I gained at anything over 1100 or stalled. Even with exercise.

I can only imagine now I can never go over 1000 until maintenance and possibly as I go down I might find I can't even eat 1000.

Most standard calories calculators tell me to eat 1450. No way.

So readjust to where your body is now, play with calories and find where you need to be now.

In order to have gained 6 actual lbs of fat, I would have had to eat 3500 calories for each of those lbs, BEYOND my resting metabolic rate.

At 240 and 5'10, my RMR should be at least 1400 cal/day (even though some sites tell me as much as 1800 cal/day). I might have it tested if this appears to be a continuing problem, but I think, relatively speaking, I have a decent amount of lean muscle mass so most of the online calculators should be appropriate.

I will definitely play with my calories though and see if that's the issue.
