Okay, so I am 6 months out today, so what should I expect now?
Things have gone pretty well. I always here about the honeymoon first 6 months, so I am a little worried about what to expect next. Of course I hope things keep singing along at a good clip of a couple pounds a week, but I hear it can get harder the closer you get to your goal weight.
I would love to hear from some vets about how things went the closer they got to their goal. I am 6 months out and have 25lbs left until I make my goal weight.
Any input?

Have no fear keep doing what you are doing and you will reach goal, For me at six month things started to slow to about a pound a week but it still kept coming off and then all of a sudden at month eight a large 8 lb drop again I made it to goal by 10 months and below goal at one year at the one year mark I pretty much stopped losing however I was not following the diet per say any more either an haven't since old habits creep back and I seem to love sweets more than I ever did but I am happy to say that because I am still unable to eat very much even with eating anything and everything I have maintained my weight loss and have not gained and I am now over three years out. Sure I go up two or three pounds but I jus****ch it for a a couple of days and it comes right back off. I think once the body finds where it is at a comfortable weight that is where you will be.Personally now I would love to lose another 10 lbs but just can't seem to do it so I guess this is where I will be.
Best wishes to you on the rest of your journey yau have done awesome so far and I am sure you will reach your goal. Cheers and Happy New Year

Wow, that's cool. It would be great to make my goal weight by 10 months out. Your big 8lbs lose helped a lot ha? He He. I love those big, surprise loses. I just wish they would happen more often. He He
I am glad to hear about your ability to maintain too. That's awesome. I hope I can do that too. I think I am going to weigh myself weekly and if I am up 3 lbs, then do the losing plan the next week and keep working it like that until I figure out how to balance it all. It's hard to imagine being at goal but I still can't believe I am where I am today. He He. What a ride it has been. It's such a blessing.
Thanks so much for your input!

Dont worry! The first 6 months are the optimal losing time frame but you can and will continue losing weight after that time. Just keep following your plan and you will be at goal in no time! Some people do have a harder time losing the closer to goal you get. I was one of the lucky ones and hit goal before I was "ready". Took me another 10 lbs to balance out and stop losing.
I know some will continue losing until their body says no more however I'm one of the weirdo's. I didnt like the way I looked. I felt I was way to bony/skeletal looking so I didnt want to lose any more. My lowest weight was 130.4 and am now happily maintaining at 133-134.
Hang in there you are not done losing!!

Yeah!!!! I am not done losing;)
I am so glad to hear your story. It's funny because I seem to have mixed emotions too. I love losing the weight but after being heavy, it seems so weird to see my bones and to feel my skeleton again. He He. It doesn't bother me a lot but it is a weird thing after not feeling my bones for so long.
Good job on your maintenance too. You are doing very well on that. I weighed between 130-135 for like 5 years. It was a good range for me too. I am 5'4" but it looked pretty good on me. My current goal weight is 129. Mostly because I would be happy there and wanted to lose 100bs from my starting weight of 229.
Anyway, thanks for your encouragement and advice. Happy New Year!!!!!!!

I'm only 8 1/2 months out. I'm doing the exact same thing I did before 6 months and I've lost over 20 lbs since then.
I do believe in the 6 month honeymoon: it's the time your capacity is smallest, your hunger is least and your motivation is highest. By about 6 months, the excitement starts to wear off, which makes this feel like a little bit of a slog.
To me, though the most important thing about the 6 month honeymoon is that it's the time when it is easiest to build new habits. If you've done that, and if you continue to be vigilant and stick with those new habits, you will continue to lose.
As you get closer to your goal, the weight loss slows because it takes less calories to maintain your new lower current weight. But it will come off if you're following a good plan, exercising and watching for "bad habit creep".

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22
175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012
Yeah, I hear you about the excitement wearing off some. Over the holidays I have not done too good. He He. It is hard to maintain the drive after a while. I find shopping therapy is helpful. He He. Nothing like finding a cute outfit to remind you of what it is you are trying to do. He He
I am back on the wagon though. It's not bad but I needed a little break. I am ready now and working at it again.
20bs in 2 1/2 months is pretty good. I only need to lose about another 25lbs to make my goal. I am hoping to make it in the next 3 months. I am not sure I will get there but if my pace continues, I might.
I am just ready to get to maintenance. I don't really know what changes that phase will bring but I am hoping I can loosen up some when I get there. But by then swim suit season will be right around the corner and I will be excited about trying to look good in my suit for the first time in years, so who knows. I guess if I don't make my goal in 3 months, maybe the threat of swim suit season will motivate me to drive on. He He

I am 6.5 months out. I only have 10/11 pounds to go. (water fluctuations). I admit the 6 month thing you hear on this board freaked me out but last month I lost 10 pounds. I did good over the holidays and I have a iron clad resolve to be at goal by valentines day.
