I would think that would depend on how much weight you need to lose overall.

Obestity Help also has a planner that shows projected weight loss by month (doesn't specify type of surgery).  Obviously everyone varies greatly ...

http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/post+op+planner.php

My surgeon says the most significant variables are how long you have been obese and your age (those of us who are older and have been obese for a very long time go slower).  Those who have been obese for less than 10 years often lose much quicker.

I think it's great that your nut gave YOU this chart.

However, I think it's VERY. VERY important for anyone reading this post to remember that everyone is different....sometimes by a little and other times a lot! There is NO exact science to this...follow the plan and do the right things and you'll lose.  Don't be in a ru**** WILL happen. But, most of all, remember that it will happen at the rate that it's meant to happen for YOU!

Had I not gone to see my dietician yesterday and have her tell me that a 17 lb weight loss for 3.5 weeks was remarkable then I would have been fretting over those stats.
I too think the percentage one is more logical.... need to think more that way but fits a broader range of patients.
