Support garments question
I have several full body trimmers (boob to thigh type) that in 3x are really tight on me and I was wondering if anyone had used them after your surgery and if you felt they helped with keeping the loose skin around the tummy and thighs from showing under your clothes? Did you feel more comfortable after the surgery wearing them? I try wearing them now to help control the fat rolls but they are mighty uncomfortable and feel like they are squeezing all the air of my lungs. I really would hate to feel like that after surgery.
Sounds like you are pre op. When you loose your weight if you exercise during the weight loss and have good genes....you may not end up with lots of excess skin. If you do then YES wear the shapeware. It isn't as bad wearing it post op WLS because it is skin and usually you lose all the fat in the skin and it is just hanging skin. Hope that answers some of your questions. It is much more comfortable than with all the fat in the skin. I do still wear shapewear too. I did NOT wear it pre op due to my size. Good luck,

Vivian, yes I am still pre-op. Feb 1st is my surgery date (yeep only a month to go now). The sad thing is that I found a picture of me wearing one under my clothes and it just made the fat rolls stand out more and didn't really smooth anything down at all. Hoping they actually help after surgery though because I would hate to have wasted a lot of money on stuff I will never be able to use lol.
Oh I am sure you will be able to use them but just wait....you'll need lots of smaller sizes. Yep remember the days when the fat rolls just buldged over the top of the shapewear. Trust me....you will lose your weight at a pretty good pace after surgery. PLEASE don't compare your weight loss to that of others though. Many get VERY DISCOURAGED because they are not losing their wieght as quickly as someone else. We ALL lose at different paces. Just keep doing what your told. It will be the end result that matters not how quickly you arrive at that result. Good luck to you and don't worry about a thing. You'll look great after your WLS.

I did not wear shapewear pre-op. Like you, I couldn't breathe and it would roll up and bind in all the wrong places. After you lose some, it will become easier to wear and do more good. Like Vivian said, you'll have to buy much smaller sizes down the road. Good luck on your surgery and I hope your recovery goes without a hitch! You'll be sporting the clothes you want to before you know it, with or without shapewear...
