Yesterday I was so happy I was 219 today back up to 221.    Does anyone ever think of joining weigh****chers now for a little help on keeping on track or is that a dumb idea...

I think that if you need the support/accountability, then perhaps its a good idea.

But, the program is designed to allow more calories than we generally are advised to eat, so as for the actual program, I wouldn't make that my first stop.

The reason WW (and any reputable WL program) works is tracking and accountability. You dont need to pay for that. Start tracking your food - limit your calories to some pre-determined amount that works for you (most ppl do 600-800 cal/day) and stick with it. When you weigh/measure/track your food, it makes it easier to keep going with the weight loss - if you are just "guesstimating" then you could be eating a lot more than you'd imagine.

What do you think is missing from your plan? What were you hoping WW could do to help you? It seems like given the challenges you have to deal with that you are doing great.

I know we all can do things a little better - go through your food journal - see what parts of your diet you can clean up or what you can add to make it more balanced. If you need to add exercise, then you can consider that.

It is the hardest thing to do - you are not alone in that feeling. The whole process can be tiring and frustrating, but you kind of have to get into a routine and a way of doing things to make it less tiring. I find that by planning my meals, cooking ahead of time for the week, pre-measuring all my meals when I cook - it takes out some of the hard work so I can kind of go on "auto-pilot" so to speak. When I wake up in the morning to pack my breakfast and lunch - they are all in the fridge packed in my 1/2 cup tupper ware dishes, and I just grab and go. No thinking involved!

I guess maybe more accountability, I attend the monthly support group meeting but they just seem to be so long till the next one.  I will try your advice.  What do you snack on during the night if you do you have done so well since your surgery..   With nightshift I seem to get all my meals in at night and sleep during the day.   Thats another issue but I cant take the pay cut to go dayshift and they don't have any spots anyway.

My snack of choice is fruit, roasted edamame, veggies, or Greek yogurt.

Susan, where in PA are you? Barix has 3 supports a month. 1 is Pre-op, but the other 2 are for everyone. Barix is in Langhorne, right at the Oxford Valley Mall. Oh yeah, you can go there even if you didn't have the surgery there. I didn't and I try to get there 2x a month. the group is fantastic!

I'm not sure Ww would work. First you will be told to eat more, they aren't able to guide someone eating less than 1000 calories per day. I think you may want to look into a support group to stay on track and help you keep up with good habits ( avoid empty calories, protein first, exercise and logging calories).
