Christmas Eve with the Sleeve
by the time you see this you will be sleeved! congrats. you will be glad you did it as the weight comes off. there are early challenges but many ways to work it out. the more weight you lose the more you realize that excess food just doesn't have to be part of your life anymore. Be sure to food journal and follow doctor's instructions. What a great christmas gift - a sleeve!!! Diane
This being my first year sleeved (on 8/15) I have found that planning is the key for sure. Yesterday, I planned my day and had two protein shakes for breakfest and lunch and then about 2 oz of Ham, a small bite of stuffing and homemade cranberry souce, and a small bite of mashed pots. Then about 2 hours later I had a 1/4 slice of sweet pot. pie. So it was all in all not too bad of a day, however, I did end up having like 5 crackers with a little cheese ball earlier in the day which I did not plan for. I guess the good news is that I've been getting told by my Dr. that I have not been eating enough the last few months (I avg about 650 to 720 cals a day) and that I need to try to eat a little more to help me avoid the stalls that I've been getting. Yesterday was still about 300 cals too high (~1300) for my liking vs the normal he wants me at (~800), but I still feeel pretty good about the day.

I worked throughout the Christmas holiday (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 7am-7:30pm) and tried to plan what I'd be eating very carefully, but only had limited success. I brought with me every day the following items: hard cooked eggs, low fat string cheese and lite Babybel rounds, apple, almonds, baby persimmon. I did eat the eggs and some of the lite cheese, and snacked on the almonds when trying to avoid some of the baked goods. But unfortunately I had a cookie attack on Saturday and overindulged big time on homemade Christmas cookies. Yesterday my coworkers and I brought food to pass for a work holiday luncheon, and I ate slices of cheddar, fresh cut up fruit, the ricotta and mozzarella out of a slice of lasagna, crab salad that I'd brought, and (unfortunately) spicy homemade lo-mein (which was absolutely delicious but REALLY carby). I anticipated kind of a splurge for lunch though so for breakfast I had scrambled eggs with cheddar, for snack I had a premade protein shake mixed with decaf coffee and splenda (tasted like a mocha!), and for dinner when I got home from work I had a lite Babybel round, a slice of American cheese and a liter of water (not in that order :D ).
Because of my work schedule, I was unable to get to the gym and too pooped to do much more than clean the dishes when I got home. When I weighed myself this morning, I was exactly the same as before my holiday indulgences.
Today I will be right back on track and back to the gym for another jog, and will remember that the holidays don't have to be about overindulgence but more about the spirit of friendship and thankfullness.
