To my OH Family-

Yesterday marked 1 year since the day I decided to change my life, the day I found my true courage, the day I woke up from anesthesia, asking myself ,"What the hell did I just do?".
Let me just say..that this has been the most special year of my life. The changes from VSG have encouraged me to improve my life in every aspect. Embrace everything. Try everything. Life is short, this is the one I was given, so I am in control of what happens.

One year later, my life is NORMAL! Eating is normal, healthy, and moderate. I still LOVE to cook and bake (We Italian women are known to make sweet love in the kitchen too!). I no longer need daily naps, I have tons of energy.

The gym has become a healthy habit in the last month. I want to have the most healthy body I can to match my healthy lifestyle. Besides working out traditionally, I get my exercise from hiking, swimming, kayaking, and surfing- who says working out has to be boring!?

I had plastic surgery 6 weeks ago, it was a now or never thing, but I am thrilled I did it!! I dont mind the scars, personally. My doc says I am healing super quick, woo hoo!! Piece of cake!

My attitude is what I think has gotten me through this. I whole heartedly believe that success can come from a positive attitude. I can truly say that every ounce of pain I have felt from my 3 surgeries this year has been worth it. I have felt overwhelming joy for every bit of pain. Remember, nothing that is easy is worth going after.

There have been so many highlights this year but these are worth noting: Losing 100 pounds, running around on the beach in Hawaii with no shorts on and owning it, learning to surf, feeling sexy, not needing a daily nap, learning to love my body, having a 25 inch waist (WTF!!!), remembering what having a crush feels like, being accepted into veterinary school!!

All the new attention is a bit..different. I like being stopped on the street and told I have nice legs, being hit on my the hottest guy at the bar, or someone asking if I was a dancer because I have beautiful figure. Never in a million years would I have ever thought someone would call MY figure beautiful. NEVER EVER!!!! HA! Fooled you suckers!!! But I guess..this IS me. This is the new me. This is my reality now...Trippy.

Life after VSG is normal. Well, its better. I would do this over a thousand times, every second of that liquid diet, every bit of pain, knowing in 1 year I would be sitting here, confident, healthy, sexy, normal weight, waiting for my move to the Carribean for veterinary school to live my dreams. Any. Freakin. Day.

That's it..in a nutshell..I want to say thank you again for being my surrogate family and to everyone who messages me telling me I have inspired them, know that you inspire me also to share my experiences and be open and honest and helpful. We are here for each other. I will never forget that..

Life is beautiful, folks. La Bella Vita!

xoxxo Yours Truly,
Sassy

Lovely collar bones! I hope to have those some day!

You are one of my heroes on OH because you figured this out at such a young age. At 28 I still thought a quick diet and I'd be fine, even though I'd dieted many times even at that young age. It only took me another 10+ years to finally get off the dieting crazy train.

Congrats and I can't wait to read all about your new life overseas and veternary school.

You look beautiful.
