How long before you could drink normally?

Hey, quick question.  How long before you could drink something within a normal time frame?  I am still taking tiny sips of everything and it's driving me crazy!!  I realize my stomach is probably still swollen, but when does that get better?

2 weeks out and I'm golden! I still have to remind myself to drink, but I am drinking normally again.

It's probably from many years of chugging beers to show the boys that girls rule!!! (KIDDING!)

Depends on how you define normal. I still can't gulp down a drink. It takes me about an hour to drink 16 oz even now. Doesn't bother me since I'm used to it - I just have a drink with me pretty much constantly.

I find I have a much harder time with plain water than with, say, crystal light. Don't know why, doesn't make any sense to me, but it's true.

Others have said the same thing, about being able to drink water with something mixed in it better than just plain water.  For some reason plain water tastes weird to me now...so I try to mix something in, even if it's just lemon.

i could pretty well drink normally from the beginning but I didn't ,i took it easy at first. by the time I was at your stage,3 weeks out,I was drinking regular size swallows just one at a time but they were reg size swallows.

I suggest you staart tryin a little larger mouth full at a time. if a little larger goes down no problem, try a little larger the next time.

I can now drink 32 oz in 30 min without any problem. liquids just run right thru,so there is really no wait time with them.

You just have to start trying larger swallows when you feel like you can.

Good luck,
H

I love water so this was the hardest thing for me. I struggled for 2 months to get in enough.  But I got noticeably better each week. I couldn't drink in the morning before eating until about month 3.  I had to drink orange juice (measured 4 ounces).  Month 3 was a huge improvement. Now, I can drink 16 ounces in about  30 minutes. I struggled more than some with water, but I was determined not to get hydrated. Do no play around with dehydration.

For me it was a little over a year before I was able to drink semi-normally.  Even now I can NOT chug water and can still not take large sips, but what I can do is chain some medium size sips so that I'm drinking about 2 (maybe 3) oz in one drinking session and I'm fine with that.  To me this now feels normal.

For me it took about a year before I was able to drink normally and tolerate plain water.
