What post op (first month) complication did you have or anything you have experienced?
I am a band revision to the sleeve on Nov. 23. I was in the hospital for 5 days. I vomited for 4 days straight in the hospital. On the 4th day I was able to sip broth but still vomiting up clear foam and fluid. The 5th day I was discharge and spiting up foam. The foam spiting was there until day 8. I had my first post op visit and I lost 17lbs trust me right now I do not care about the weight, but how awful I feel. I am so emotional and this recovery has been extremely hard on me. When I had the lap band done it was a breeze. The doctor told me this is all to be expected. I was told I could try soup, applesauce, liquid yogurt, cream of wheat. I was looking forward to something more than clear liquids, but to be so disappointed. Thursday night I slowly had 1/3 cup soup...dumped it. Friday I had 1/3 cup applesauce everything was going fine it took me 3 hours to get it down, I took a small walk and dumped it. My esophagus is sore and burning. I am burping consistently which is good to relieve the pressure. My throat feels so tight. Does it get better? Has anyone experience my story?
Sorry you are having such a hard time.
I was really sick for 24 hours in the hosp. until I told them NOT to give me anymore pain meds. I am super sensitive.
Other than that just an issue with taking my vitamins on an empty stomach and they came back up just a little later after making me feel so gross.
Hope you turn the corner and feel much better soon!!

This is NOT NORMAL by any stretch of the imagination. The fact that you were clear on the day of surgery does not mean a damn thing at this point.
Are you taking medication to control acid production? If not, you certainly should be on one. A LOT of what you describe could be severe acid reflux, and that CAN make you miserable.
Try Prilosec OTC, or an equivalent medication. If that doesn't cause a significant change for the better within 48 hours, then you scream, yell, shout and demand that this jerk investigate what is going on, because it ABSOLUTELY IS NOT NORMAL BY ANY STRETRCH OF THE IMAGINATION.
And folks, avoid this surgeon like the plague. For ANY doctor to tell their patient that this is normal is almost criminal, and shows a level of indifference at best, and incompetence at worst.

I am on Prilosec. I am keeping a journal from Thursday to Monday to keep a log of what I can keep down. I had no idea how hard this revision would be for me. I am trying to sip on a liquid smoothie we will see if I can keep it down. On Monday I will call my doctor office with my journal and problems. I just do not want to get dehydrated. I am trying to drink all day.
Okay I had revision from band to sleeve on 11/18 and was in the hospital for 4 days miserable and actually thought my husband was going to have to take me back to the hospital after getting home. A lot of ppl don't understand how bad the revision surgery jacks you up!!!! Trust me I didn't think it would be any worse than when I originally had the band! This was way worse and it does get better! I would suggest taking an antacid since you've thrown up so much. I've thrown up 3 times and thought I would die each time! It will get better I promise. It's just a longer process since it was a revision! Best of luck!
Honestly after surgery I was so sick for a week and a half from getting sick with every thing I tried that I stopped trying and just ate ice chips from sonic and drank flavored and unflavored water. I had a horrible reaction to my protein shakes that I didn't drink them. I also did sugar free Popsicles, but had to do those very slow. I was just able to eat mushies and tried beans over cooked and was able to tolerate them. I had 2 slices of cheese today and kept it down. So I'm going to try fish tomorrow.
Trust me I was really thinking I hated myself for getting the revision but it's getting better and it will for you as well!!
