I think that's how its spelled, if not sorry lol  Anyways I just wanted to know if a 36 is good or bad?  The Doc said that's what he uses on most patients. Does anyone know really how big the stomach would be using a 36 Bougie???

Thanks Jennifer

Don't know.  My doc just used the endo tube as a guide, so whateve size that is, is what I have.

A 36 is fine - it's what I have!  It's kinda right in the middle of the range that's used, which I've seen as small as 28 and as large as 42.  Someone will hopefully post the picture showing the difference in size using sharpies/markers as guides.

Bougie size is only one component.  The bougie is only used as a guide.  Your surgeon's technique also matters; how tight his assistant pulls the stomach around the bougie matters; the shape and length of your stomach matter.  If it's something that worries you, ask you doc why he uses that size.

At a year out, I can eat between 4-5 oz depending on how dense the food is and my restriction is just fine.

Thanks I will check  out that site... The doc only uses a 34 and a 36 I think I know he said hes never gone above a 36. I think that's the stander he uses for most unless they are much, much larger than me... They are a center of excellent thou.

I have a 36, and I'm 3-1/2 years out and maintain about 20 pounds below goal.  I still have great restriction.  However, you will find that carbs slide right through and you can eat a lot more of them than dense proteins.  But it's true what was said earlier, it epends on the surgeons technique as well.  Mine pulls very tight and oversews.

My surgeon uses the endo tube too as a guide.  He also told me it is similar to a 34 but the most important thing is that my stomach will be approximately 85% smaller!!!  YAY!
