Happy Surgiversary!! 4 years
In October of last year I got TIRED of following the "rules." I stopped cooking for myself I decided fast food was MY friend again. There were meals that consisted on NOTHING but carbs, actually days last year where I would buy a pie and eat it for B,L,D etc.
I currently do GREAT during the week but my weekends I FAIL miserably and it's the SAME cycle I had preop where I wasn't losing, so makes NOTHING but perfect sense that I'm still NOT losing.
For ME (and I emphasize ME) my body is carb sensitive. If I go over say 50-75 carbs a day I won't lose and if I eat ANY processed carbs (even "whole" grain) it sends me into a craving SPIRAL. My calories range from 800-1500 depending. I maintain around 1200-1500 I have to go LESS then that and/or exercise to lose. I KNOW this yet putting it INTO practice is what does me in.
Please REMEMBER the ONLY reason I gained was because I decided to go BACK to my old habits. And now I'm not GAINING anymore because I'm aware but I'm not losing because well in reality I don't want to reign it in. I maintained my weight for 2 years and have NO doubt had I not LOST sight of my reality I would still be maintaining. I mean SERIOUSLY I'm currently maintaining and have been all year it's just I'm maintaining my GAIN. I refuse to go higher!!

Have you had any long term problems from a result of this surgery yet? I was sleeved in August and there are not many studies on bad things that can happen down the road. I saw the post earlier with the girl that has to have bypass since the VSG has caused severe acid problems/hernia with her and it concerns me. Thx!
From the beginning I NEVER had problems with acid or reflux or anything. As far as research I suggest you look to full and partial gastrectomies as it relates to stomach cancer and ulcers as that surgery has been done for decades. The ONLY things I found were some people and acid reflux, the EXTREME in some cases need for Vitamin B-12 as our stomach no longer has something called the Intrinsic Factor when is what absorbs b-12 or something like that, and the need to supplement calcium for life.
As for ME, in 09 I started having these phantom pains and just KNEW it was my gallbladder, after every test known to man I was diagnosed with acid. I had NO symptoms other then PAIN after drinking coffee from this new little store. So now I can PREDICT when I'll have an acid attack as I get SUPER hungry, but it's acid. So I take a few acid pills for like 2-3 days and I'm fine. I haven't had an attack in over 2 years.
For my 2 year labs I was also diagnosed with Vitamin A & D deficiency and Iron. Year 3 I was ok to stop my A & D supplements but I'm still on Iron. Just did my labs this morning for year 4.
