Oh I totally agree. None of these things are going to stop HL, they are just going to help whatever hair is coming in grow back faster and healthier. I used to see a lot of specialists and I did a few biopsies and I even used to go in with my own research and teach the dang doctors because they didn't know anything! heralopecia is a great message board for hl.

Nothing in my life (and that includes obesity) has been as painful and frustrating as my hair loss.  It has kept me from just as many things as my weight.  I avoid swimming (except in my own pool when I'm alone) and even amusement parks.  It's too hot to wear my hairpeice to Disneyworld, and hats have to come off on rides.  And THEN they take pictures of you on the rides plastered  out for everyone to see.

I've had biopsies too, and all that did was give me the bad news that most of my hairloss is permanent because my scalp was scarring over which wouldn't allow hair regrowth.  Thanks for the website.  I'll have to check it out.

I completely understand. I still have "a lot" of hair but I suffer from hl. I had lost 60 pounds at 1 point and that happens to be the same time I noticed my hl and I PURPOSELY gained the 60 pounds back (and an added 40 by mistake) to see if I could get my hair back. No such luck because it was caused by hormones, not the WL. But that just goes to show that I would rather have been fatter with hair than thinner with less hair. Now I'm that 60+40 pounds and needing WLS. :( I know how devastating it can be just in the beginning stages of permanent HL and also what the ladies are going through in the shock of hairloss from the surgery.

Thankfully the surgery hairloss will grow back for most of the ladies. Unfortunately, some of us have to suffer with the permanance of other types of HL :(
