Trying to adjust..to no longer being invisable...

Way back in the day, before I gained weight, I had a breast reduction - now those are some major scars!  If you haven't seen them, do a google search for breast reduction with keyhole incisions.  The men I have been with since then have not cared a bit.  They asked questions for sure, but no one was ever deterred from enjoying them (ahem).   As it was delicately (lol) explained to me by my husband, "they may be franken-boobies, but they are some d@mn fine boobies!"

So my answer about the scars and any other imperfection - to the right man, they won't matter, and if they do matter, its not the right man.

As for having dealt with and conquered obesity?  Pretty much the same answer!

And you know, everyone has a past - even the "perfect" people that you might feel like a fake around.  They all have their stories, difficulties, even true skeletons in the closet, that make them who they are.  And you don't expect them to announce that all before you decide if you want to hang out with them or not, right?

Do you think if you did announce that you used to be obese, these people wouldn't want to be around you anymore?  That was really a rhetorical question, but if the answer would be yes, I think you need some new friends!   I mean short of finding out that someone was a child molester or similar, I'm looking at who a person is NOW, not basing my opinion on their past.

People grow and change.  You had the VSG, and changed inside and out, and that is a part of who you are now.  Love who you are, AND where you came from, and don't ever feel ashamed.

I love reading your posts, and this one created a great discussion.  Thanks for that!

You and I are the same age and you were around the same starting point as I am now. I am a couple days away from my surgery and I often wonder how I will feel once I lose my weight. Often when I go out I do get some male attention but i do see how my slimmer friends get more attention. I am going to have to find a balance without coming off as bitter and feeling like that now you will talk to me now that I am thin but when I was fat you wouldn't give me the time of day. perhaps counseling would be good with wls.
p.s you are a awesome role model!
