5 months - 75 lbs
Cant believe I had surgery 5 months ago.
I'm down 75 lbs or so. I can live with that. I feel good on most days. I have serious massive skin issues. I could see my pic ending up on some kind of freak show lol. But, I dont spend too much energy on worrying about it because my life could be a lot worse.
My transfer addiction is coffee and shopping. Someone needs to take my wallet and chain me in my house!
Im on an excellent track with my eating - im very proud of myself in that respect. I still get my protein in, avoid the junk and carb-y crap. Because Ive chosen a slightly different path than most people, im eating between 900-950 cal/day and my carbs are around 80 or so. I had to increase my carbs because I was smelling like ammonia after my long workouts. I workout between 60-90 min/day 5x a week. I have not lost a huge amount of muscle mass which makes me happy (im still lifting similar if not more weight than i was pre-op)
Im soooo happy to have so many supportive friends here - you all are awesome.
In the next month, a few days before my 6 mo date, I will be doing a triathlon. I've decided to do it in spite of my docs advice not to, but in all fairness, he doesn't expect anything bad to happen to me. In fact, he's pretty sure ill be fine, but feels the need to tell me what the american association of cardiologists says. It will be a remarkable day for me where I'll definitely be reflecting on my former 420 lbs self and the new freedom that I have accomplished.

Congratulation to you i know you have worked extremely hard. I'm glad you included the skin issues and the Cardiologist stuff because i didn't want to hijack anyone's thread and ask you about it but i was wondering what had become of the working out. I hope you went to the Dr with your skin issues and got some relief. I also hope you got them documented for plastics in the future. I know you prepared long and hard for this and I'm so happy it's working out so well. Again congrats.
I've still been working out. Took the intensity down a notch and increased distance.
I did get my rash documented - some weird diagnosis for skin fold inflammation. I've got about 4-5 visits and even a CT scan just fir rash issues so I won't h ave any problems getting skin removal covered.

I worked out for a year consistently before my surgery. By 3 weeks, I was walking slowly on the TM. I did not try any intense workouts until week 6-7 or so. I just didn't have the energy until then.
I recommend keeping a workout journal - when I'm frustrated at the scale, I can track my fitness progress. So like I've been stalled for a week, but I've ran more miles in the last two weeks, and I've improved my mile time by 30 seconds. That means more to me then the damn scale.

You are doing great! So cool about the triathalon. I was invited to join a group of marathon runners sveral years ago. I think they wanted to "cure" me of being fat. My motto the was Only run if there is a fire or wild animal coming" no its "maybe someday". You are planning to do it! I'm in awe of the determinationCongrats!
