Surgery Dec. 15th! Advice welcomed.
I lost 21 lbs before my surgery( without my liquid diet)! I would recommend (if you havent already) cut out all forms of pop (diet or reg), start eating more fish and meats with vegs, cut out alot of the startchs and eat 6 small meals a day. I would also recommend getting a kiddy plate for portion control. This is how I lost my weight before surgery. Along with monitoring my food intake, I also started walking 30-40 minutes 3-4 days a week.
My surgery was very easy and very little pain. I contribute this to what I did before the surgery. This has also helped prepare me for my new life style change.
I am only 9 days post op (surgery was November 2nd).
Good luck and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask!

Congratulations! You will be on the losers' bench before you know it!
Right now, cut out bread and bready products, stop the soda and start weaning off caffeine, cut out sugar, focus on protein and veggies, and start drinking water like a fish. Doing the above things will get the crap out of your system now so the cravings won't hit you post-op. Also, even if you don't have a pre-op diet, focusing now on protein and veg will help shrink your liver and make your surgery safer and easier for the surgeon.
When you go for surgery, take a chapstick and some mouth-moisturizing rinse or spray. Your mouth will feel like the bottom of a birdcage until you can sip some liquids. So swish swish swish, spit, and slather on the chapstick as often as needed. AH!
And right after your surgery, walk walk walk your legs off and sip sip sip as soon as you are allowed. Walking and sipping will help you heal!
Best wishes on your journey :-)

Highest weight: 292 Pre-op weight: 265 Goal met: 150 Six years out: 185 and trying to lose again!
I just surgery on Monday! I was glad I got used to having a protein shake for breakfast 3 months before surgery. It got me used to not always having solid food. I also stopped all carbonated beverages 3 weeks before. I only stayed one night in the hospital but wished I would have stayed the second night. The medications they give you in the hospital are so much better. :) Once I got home I did need help getting in and out of bed due to the incisions. If my husband was going to work i would switch to the recliner for sleeping. It was nice to have my house all clean when I came home from the hospital. It stopped me from waiting to do something I shouldn't. Gax-x is your friend! :) Walk walk walk!
