Eating out makes me nervous!!
Being a Navy wife, we have moved ALOT! Usually our stuff takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months to reach us. What I find is helpful is to go to your local Goodwill or thrift store and pick up one or two pans you can cook in, and some dishes until you can find your stuff. Once you find your stuff, you can donate them back or keep them....
Good luck. You're doing great. You will get through this!!!

The Starkist sandwitch ready tuna packets don't require a fridge and are ready to heat right out of the pouch. Try some protien bars, I like the pure protien brand at costco.
As far as eating out, go for it! I dont' eat out as often as I did pre-op but I find there is always something on the menu I can eat. Sometimes it's an appitizer or a soup or a properly prepared main dish. As far as the potion size goes. Ask for a to go container from the start, make your best guess and put the rest in the to go container. I don't think if you are an ounce off one way or antoher it's going to cause an issue unless you make it a habit to eat out and over estimate on a regular basis.
When I was on Phase III I asked for a half cup of cottage cheese once at a resturant plus a bowl of blended beef barly soup. The cottage cheese was about all I eat and didn't have room for the soup.
Another time, all they had was soup so I ordered a cup, asked them to blend it until smooth and eat that. I have NO idea what it's nutritional value was but it was some sort of bean/meat combo. It was very tasty.
At chinise resturants I stick with the egg drop soup or hot and sour. Had a part of the chicken/lettuce wraps too.
At an Italian place I had a half a veal meat ball, that was it. Turned out to be 18Grams protien. It was higher in fat and carbs but was a very good choice at that place.
You can look over the menus of most resturants online, do that and figure out what you can have in advance. If they dont' have anything you can eat, find another resturant.
Good luck with your move. I'm moving this weekend too...

well, if you have to, go to McDonalds and get the grilled chicken sandwich and don't eat the bread; use it like a potholder. At this point I suspect you will be able to eat about half the chicken which should be about 3 oz. You can do the same with a fast food hamburger with no topings. Carl's Jr. sells a low carb burger wrapped in lettuce but its way too big and I can't eat all of one so I get a regular burger from them and don't eat the bread. You don't want to make this fast food stuff a habit but while you are moving and your kitchen is out of whack, it works. I do this when I travel. Diane
Couple things......
- Eye balling.....winging it.....better learn it....this is for life.
When your at home and prep your food portions...size compare to things you carry....phone, wallet etc. Get a visual size relationship going. I use the deck of cards visual and travel a lot.
A deck of cards is good..... thinking of two iPhones stacked together works also.
I know it's a very easy skill to acquire.....cause my friends can tell pretty close on how much I can eat. They show interest cause they are trying to figure out how much more food they get !!!!!
- The big key is to under guesstimate. Eat comfortably under and slow........ take a little extra food with you to snack an hour or so later.....
Hope this helps.....
Earlier this year I ate in 21 straight restaurants while traveling on business.....no problems.....takes a little getting used to....but yah get the hang of it.......
I'm thinking this will be a good practice for you......the training wheels gotta come off sometime !
