Nothing  seems to sit right even water.  I'm 9 days post op.  DR moved me to mushies and soft meats mon.  I haven't jumped into it and I mainly stayed at liquid because even at that doesn't feel good. 
I truly feel regretful about doing this to myself.  I'm scared to death that I will spend the rest of my life frustrated and starving.  Actually I can't say that I'm starving because I have abouluty no hunger pains, but know that I'm only hurting myself by not eating.  Everything is painful and everymeal doesn't end well.  Either with me in diere dicomfort or last night  puked.  That doen't fell well on a raw stomach. 

I hope this gets better

Stop and take a deep breath. You are NINE days out of major trauma to your stomach. You are dealing with swelling and healing go on. It's not supposed to feel great.

Dont rush the mushies. I wasn't cleared to start for 14 days after surgery to eat soft food so take your time. You have to take your sips very slowly right now - taking an hour plus to get even 8 -11o z protein shakes. If they feel too heavy, thin them out with some milk or water.

You need to stay hydrated right now. Life will only get worse if you get dehydrated. I ended up in the ER to get fluids because I didn't drink enough. DON'T DO that. It sucks.

I regretted this surgery for a couple months. I wished I could take it back. Now, at 4 mo, Im slowly overcoming that (its a process) and it helps now that I can eat "normally" - i don't have to chew chew chew. You will get to that point, but not right now, and maybe not in the next week or two, but there are better days in your future. Just convince yourself that this is normal for everything you have been through. Surgery is not magic - its a tough process. you will be fine, just hang in there.

I had a hard time also.  I think I had more swelling that some people since I had trouble getting much in for the first while.  I stuck with protein drinks and water until I could add in cottage cheese and yogurt.  I wasn't able to add soft meats or fish when my doctor approved me....it took longer.  

Focus on getting in your protein and liquids first and try adding one thing at a time.  Make sure you can tolerate it before trying another food.  Stick with what works for you and eventually you will be able to to tolerate most foods.  I think it took two or three months before I was comfortable with dense proteins.   Just because your doctor approves you to proceed doesn't mean you need to.  Good luck and just take it easy.  It's not a race, it's a process.

 I"m really sorry it's so rough.  Hugs to you.  I do think, though that 9 days out is too early for meats.  Stick to liquids, apple sauce, yogurt, maybe some cottage cheese and see how that goes.  Hang in there, it surely will get better. :-)

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I don't mean to ask a dumb question, but have you told your surgeon how you feel? I'm no doctor, but if you're not even tolerating fluids I wouldn't think you should progress to mushies. All the docs have different ideas, but my surgery was the same day as yours and I have another week of fluids.

Try some warm herbal tea. Mint soothed my stomach in a bad pregnancy. If you are mixing shakes with milk, try light soy or lactose free milk, or add extra water. Try for the protein, but you need fluids more.

I've had a bad day or two and cried and came here and received priceless support. We'll get through this.

Hang in there, Girlfriend!!!  I cried the first 7 days.  Nothing tasted right, I could not stomach chicken broth or sugar free popsicles,  I could not stand artificial sweeteners, I wondered if I did the right thing.  I am now 9 weeks and 1 day out and all is good!!!  My doctor's diet had me on liquids for one week, full liquid for 2 weeks and then soft diet for a few days.  Don't worry about eating right now.  The most important thing is to stay hydrated.  I am now down 48 pounds.  I had to take it one hour at a time.  It will get better and you will not regret the surgery (unless you don't chew your food thoroughly and it gets stuck--that is awful!)  Keep your chin up and keep the faith!

Hang in there, I am 16 days out and just started on full liquid proteins on monday. Our tummies have to heal. Maybe take a step back and stick to protein drinks for a little longer. It will get better and you did the right thing! Tomorrow will be a brand new day!

 I'm so sorry you are going though this. I completely understand. I to felt like things didn't sit well but I ended up with a leak (not to scare you) which you most likey don't have. Just give it some time. Almost everyone here has regretted the surgery early on. It's such a major life change. You have to adjust to the new tummy and you grieve when you relize you will never be able to eat the same again. Granted it's not a bad thing to not overeat but we all got accustomed to it and it was such a huge part of our lifes pre op. Once you start feeling better and the weight starts coming off you'll feel a lot better about having surgery! I had a terrible recovery and am now just fully recovered but I've lost 65 lbs between the 2 week pre op diet and the 8 weeks since surgery.

I would recommend talking to your doc  and letting him know whats going on. He may want to check some things if it doesn't get better soon but do remember you're only a little over a week out. I know from the outside the small cuts don't seem like much but your entire tummy was cut apart and stapled back together. It's swollen and healing. Good luck and I'm sure things will turn around for you before you know it.

I would talk to your doctor about how lousy you feel, and ask to come in and see him/her. For me, yogurt was my saving food of choice. The thicker texture of yogurt, and pudding and applesauce felt the best, along with pureed creamed soups for that second, third and part of week four.

Our tummys can be very tempermental. And they rule the rest of you from now on !!!

I lived on thin potato soup for the first two weeks, Literally that is all i ate. SF Popsicles and tea. Water did not sit well on my tummy for a couple of months. try tea, experiment with cold, warm or room temp. Cold was the worst for me. sip sip sip and worry more about liquids than anything right now. *hugs*
