I was 335 the day of surgery but started at 420lbs. Since surgery, ive lost about 60 -65 lbs in a little over 4 months. No real complications - just normal constipation and acid reflux. Everything else has been okay.

Hi!
I was about 325# when I started the process of researching and doing pre-op preparations. Not quite the answer to your question...sorry. I was 297# the day of surgery and now 7 months later I've lost 100# from the start. My goal is 160# as I am 6ft. tall.

I am so glad that I chose the VSG. It's still something you have to work, it's not a miracle. I'm down from 4X tops/28pants into 16/18 pants and "regular store" XL tops....not specialty shop sizes! I love my sleeve...can't say it enough.

Best wishes on this journey.

I was 375 before starting and 362.5 the day of surgery. In 7 months I am down to 237. It dropped off very fast but has slowed to about 2-3 pounds a week now, which is much easier on the clothes fitting problem. I am very happy with my success so far and teh one thing that is truly amazing, is how much this has improved both my health and quality of life. It is worth every bit of the money and pain from surgery. I was fortunate to not have any complications, but I do attribute that to a skilled surgeon. Make sure to choose a skilled surgeon and chances are much better that you will be just as successful, if you properly follow your surgeons plan.

cracsgrl,

I was 460lbs (455 day of surgery) and I have lost 161lbs in just under 6 months.
I am 299lbs today and have a goal of 220 pounds.
I have lost on average 26lbs a month.
I am 6'3 and have a very large frame.

Nobodys loss is the same, but generally the bigger you are to start the more you lose. I have also noticed that men esp around my weight +/- lose a bit more than women...

Good luck,

Jason

I started at 368.1 on surgery day. My monthly numbers are below my signature.

There have been people on this forum with the surgery who were well over 400.  The procedure started as a 2-step process for the super-obese that often resulted in just the one step (the vsg) being enough.  I'm happy with my progress. My recovery was pretty easy.

I started out 387. I am healthy now but not to my scale goal yet. I can now walk and breathe at the same time. I no longer need a cane to walk and am totally mobile. My life has transformed. I still am losing although slowly. I lost the bulk of the weight the first year and only 30 pounds this year. But I have built muscle mass and fitness. You must keep in mind I am 60 years old and have a slow metabolism.

Your first 6 months is the period of rapid weight loss because your stomach is still healing and swollen from the surgery thus you can eat only small amounts. Take advantage of this to train yourself to eating smaller quantities by sticking to the measurements. It will be simple because you generally will not be physically hungry. At 6 months your stomach is healed and the swelling is gone and you notice you can eat a bit more and perhaps your hunger may return but not like pre-surgery. Men seem to lose much quicker than women, but there are even exceptions to that. It seems that Cirangle's patients and diet plan creates the most success so if I were just starting out now I would follow that just to give myself the best opportunity. Everyone is individual so don't try to compare yourself to others or you might just feel unnecessarily disappointed. It's about achieving a healthy lifestyle for you.

well when I seen my surgeon on feb 15th of this year I was 430.1lbs (I had lost 120 pounds before seeing him) . He said lose 30 he would do wls(put me into their WLP...they train and clear you for WLS in NS) and once down to 250lbs he would be able to fix a hernia I have.
Well i went home...learned everything I could doing what they told me from diet, exercise, to behavioural modification.....everything a person would do if they had WLS except I had my whole stomach. well I have my one on one on nov 8th...this is where they test and clear you for wls. Their system I say is terribly slow. After they give the OK then it's usually 3 weeks before seeing the surgeon and another two weeks before surgery. By the time i see the surgeon i more than likely will be at 250.

Remember everyone...the sleeve is a wonderful tool..YOU are the carpenter that can improve on your house....how much work you put into it will determine how well you do.
Best of luck to everyone in your journey.
