I am 19 months out lost total of 118lbs pounds, didn't really lose hair during my weight loss period.  Now in the last 2 - 3 weeks hair is falling out, not in clumps but enough to say somethings not right.  Did this happen to anyone else?  I take my vitamins, biotin, eat my protein can't understand what is going on.

Sometimes, it's not the VSG.

Seriously, it can't be the surgery itself. It could be some kind of deficiency that's a result of the surgery. Have you been getting labs done regularly? If not, it's time to get your labs done ASAP.

If you've been getting labs done regularly and they're normal, then it may be a totally unrelated problem. When I had hair loss in my 20's it was a testosterone level problem related to my adrenal gland (complicated metabolic story, but the point is that there are many causes of hair loss).

First, if you haven't had labs done, do. Second if that doesn't show anything, see an endocrinologist.

Good luck!

My surgeon only had labs done on me once in the 19 months.  I'm definitely going to call and have him do again.  I think its some type of deficiency also, which one I am not sure but will find out.

Thanks for your input and suggestions.

I agree, it could be something else. I have a thyroid disease and have lost tons of hair from that, so the extra hair loss I am expecting will not be good!  My husband has joked that I can wear wigs and he will have a new woman!!
It is good that you are getting the vitamins in, but I would do lab work and see what is going on.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Sometimes people just have a "drop" phase of hairloss.
I am a hairdresser and have clients that lose every year .
Is your hair a lot longer then before ?
Sometimes it is much more noticable if it is longer.
We lose 60 -100 hairs a day.. So if you go a couple of days not shamppoing you can really see it.
