When should I go back to work?

I had my surgery exactly one week ago today. I feel like I am ready to go back but then, I get kinda tired in the afternoon and need a nap. Also, if I drink a whole lot (trying to get my fluid in, you know) I have to go to the bathroom suddenly.....and I don't mean pee.

I have a desk job so, I do not have to worry about lifting. I am just worried about the tired spells and the bathroom thing. Other than that, I feel pretty good. My surgeon will give me a release whenever I am ready.

So, if it were you, would you go back to work this week or wait till Monday to go back? I really need input from someone who has been there.

Thanks guys!

i would take another week, its easy to forget because the incisions are tiny that  you just had a giant shock to your body.

take another week to rest, heal, recover, and master your new drinking schedule.

I took 2 weeks off and thought I was not going to need it but I did for the same reasons you noted. If I were you I would plan on the 2 weeks.
Congrats on your sleeve and sending good vibes for a quick recovery.

If you can take the time, go for it, you won't regret it.  I took six days off, I wish I could have done the other four but had a project start and couldn't postpone it any longer.

I think I was one of the weird ones...I was sleeved on a Wednesday, released from the hospital on a Friday...and went back to work on Monday.

My boss (and his boss) were a little bit freaked out when I walked into the office that day...and I had to reassure them I am made of tougher stuff! They did make me agree to go home right after noon, but I did work the rest of the day from home. I just felt 'better' being back at work!

Take the extra time and make sure you're well. I feel pretty great and then I went out today--taught me that I am rushing it! I could feel the two largest incisions as I walked and realized that you can rush too soon. I even felt the incisions when I was driving.

Take the extra time, heal a bit more and get adjusted to your diet. God forbid you rush too soon and then have to be out even longer.

I took 2 weeks off for my sedentary desk job.  Bathroom about 150 yards away........no problems.

I had surgery on 8/22/11 and was able to go back to work on 8/29/11...I also have a deskjob and had no problems whatsoever.

I guess it's really up to you, if you are able to take another week then go for it, it wouldnt hurt to stay home 1 more wk.  I couldve taken 2 wks but I have bills to pay and I didnt get paid for that week I was off so I really had no other choice.

Take Care:)
