band to sleeve revision done this morning

My surgery went really well. I had very little scar tissue so it was easy to work with. The sleeve was done without any problems. My doctor also found a hernia above my band that he repaired. He thinks this was definately a factor in my acid reflux and other problems.
So far, very little pain. Less than with my band surgery. I have no problem getting up to walk around. Actually, it feels good to walk. I have had a couple of bouts with nausea. The nurse gave me some anti-nausea meds. They seem to be doing the trick. My only complaint is that I'm extremely tired! It didn't help that I never went to bed last night. I figured I had to get up at 3 am anyway. Why not stay up on OH. I also watched a few utube videos about revisions.
I was shocked by my calm going into surgery. I knew I had a whole lot of people praying for me. I was able to give my worries over to God and I felt completely at peace.
I wish all of you luck in your journeys.

Hi Shelli,
Glad to hear your surgery went well.  Did you have the same surgeon for both surgeries?  If so, did he say if you had the hernia prior to the band?  Sorry to hear about all your problems that you had with the band.  I am one of the lucky ones, so far...  at the time of my surgery the sleeve wasn't an option.  In the back of my mind I know there's a great possibility of something going wrong.  I just pray if something does happen my insurance would cover a revision to the sleeve.  I am doing everything in my power to keep my band safe.

I wish you an easy recovery and better health!

Yes he is the same surgeon and no, I didn't have the hernia with the band placement. All of my fills and unfills were done under fluro because of all my problems. I'm surprised they never saw it. I don't even know if you can see it with the x-ray that is done during fluro. Well, I'm glad he found it and fixed it during my procedure.
Best of luck to you on keeping our band. It works for some and for others, like me, it doesn't.

Congrats on getting your sleeve! You reached your goal with the band. Did you have reflux or slippage? I started my pre op diet today. Oct 4th. Can't wait to get the sleeve.

My main problem is that I was never able to get to that "sweet Spot" I was always either too tight and couldn't keep anything down and having terrible acid reflux or I was too loose and could eat anything and everything. As little as 0.2 cc's could be the difference between night and day. My doctor has been talking to me about a sleeve revision for over a year. I finally did enough research that I felt comfortable doing it for myself. Insurance was a breeze for me. I went through in less than a week and a half.
Good luck to you.

I'm so glad surgery went well and that they caught your hernia. I also have been very sleepy (and just like you had stayed up the night before surgery lol no nausea and moved from morphine to oral lortab for the pain. I pray you continue to do well. Keep updating us.
