This is NOT Magic, and Do NOT Comapre yourself to anyone else!
Losing weight is not for sissies. It is hard work, and you have to work at it all the time. The sleeve or the Rny) the D/S, the Band or whatever) is nothing more than a tool to HELP you lose the weight.
It will not magically cause you to lose, if YOU don't do your part, and keep right on doing your part.
It doesn't make donuts taste BAD! It doesn't make ice cream taste really yucky! It won't make Mom's (or your) home cooking taste like something the dog rolled in.
It isn't always easy to stick to that diet plan. And realistically, I doubt if any of us has stuck to it 100% of the time. I know I sure as heck didn't! BUT, when I CHOSE to eat something i shouldn't have, I refused to feel guilty about it. Instead, I enjoyed whatever it was, but I limited the amount, and i did NOT repeat it over and over again.
You really have to stick as close as you can to that diet plan, and you REALLY need moderate exercise. that doesn't mean competing in a Triathlon, swimming the English Channel or riding a bike for 100 miles every day. Moderate exercise is swimming, walking or doing similar levels of exercise for 1 hour at a time, at least 3 days a week.
The single most destructive thing you can do is to start comparing YOUR weight loss to someone else's. Do you have their body? Do you have their metabolism? No, you do not, so your weight loss pattern will be unique to YOU.
Besides, I hate to tell you, but some people actually lie about their rate of weight loss. I've gotten private e-mails from people saying they did this, and how can the straighten things up?
Do NOT weigh yourself daily either. Your weight WILL fluctuate, and you will just drive yourself crazy.
Weigh on the same day each week, at the same time, preferably stark naked and first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom. That will give you the most accurate weight possible.
Measure your neck, chest, waist, hips, biceps and thighs once each month and record those measurements in the same notebook you keep your weekly weight in. You will be amazed at how often you lose inches, when the weight has barely dropped at all.
As I have said many time, if a truly lazy 65 year old like me could lose my excess weight, I know darn well you all can do it.

Medic,
This post should hang on the VSG wall. It's a sound practical statement. You have been an inspiration to me since before surgery and I actually have one of your posts hanging on my office wall. It was the one about why the VSG surgery kicks butt.
Thank you for your contributions here, it means more than you know to many of us!

wow look at your weight loss that is great. I know one thing, never compare a man's weight loss to a woman's they have more muscle that burns more calories.
I am all ready to go, what some people say scare me at some things they should know at their point out of surgery but oh well different strokes for different folks
