Dr. C. Joe Northup in Cincinnati/Fairfield Area in Ohio???
So please, if you've had surgery done by him please let me know of your results (pos/neg), weight lose, and your overall experience. Thank you so very much!!!
I looked him up in Virginia and saw some very good reviews.
Let's keep posting...I have several appointments leading up to my surgery. I am self pay so I do not have the waiting periods.
I love meeting people from this area and someone who finally is familiar with Dr. Northup

Congrats on your success!!!! I've heard mixed reviews of Dr. Curry...mostly people have just stated his follow-up care they didn't care too much for.
How was the follow up in your opinion? What size bougie does he use? How long did you stay in the hospital? Girl, I have sooooo many questions its crazy

The dieticians were great, so was the insurance person, Dr. Northup was very easy to talk to.
I do not know how long he has been in Mercy Fairfield but if I was you I would try Virginia (I think it is Charlotte or Charlottesville or something like that).
I am ready to go!
I had surgery with dr Northup Nov 28, 2012. I am now down 66 lbs. He is alright. I personally think I learned more from this site and obesity.com. The program they have leaves a lot to be desired. When you go to support groups they are taken up with a program about something and you don't have time to talk among all the patients. I am trying to find successful people that he has had. By now you have probably had surgery. Please PM me and we can compare notes.
Dr. C. Joe Northup did my gastric bypass at the Unviersity of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. in 2006.He was a very competant doctor and I felt very confident with him. He took time to explain things to me and was always on hand if I had questions. I had no compications from the surgery at all and lost 187 pounds and have kept it off since. I was sorry to see him move to Ohio, but if he is bettering himself then I am very happy for him. He was always there for the follow up visits and even at the gastric bypass Christmas parties that UVa sponsored. Dr. Northup is a good choice for gastric bypass surgery.
I know this is an old post but I thought I'd bump it up for anyone wanting more information on Dr. Northup :) I, like the original poster, couldn't find much information on him but after some digging - realized he was more than suitable and capable of doing my surgery. My entire experience has been nothing but awesome and I wouldn't change a thing. Dr. Northup is a fast talking, no small talk kind of doc. He's a busy guy. I don't mind that but if you're looking for someone with a talkative bedside manner - that's not him.
I had my VSG on 9/17/14 and as of today have lost 95lbs (not even 6m out). My starting weight was 356. I have had 0 complications other than some post op dehydration (caused by myself not pushing the fluids). I feel great and finally have my life back!
Hi, I'm Tonya
I had the bypass about 9 years ago. I weighed 360, 311 day of surgery. Now 230...I'm in working to get some more off.
I had now problems at all with my surgery. I thank God for it. I needed the help, because I felt I couldn't do it on my own.
I also had 15 pou day of skin removed, I'm so glad I did.
I pray your is a full success
God bless
Tonya
