What I can say is that your body will let you know what you can handle, everyones experience Is different. For myself for example I loved vegetables prior to surgery, but now have a hard time getting it down especially which I loved but just can't stomach now. Just take it gradual and don't over do it. As for spicy food, I can't handle really spicey anymore, but mild spiceyness seems to be ok, it gets better as the time goes by.

I was eating spice pretty much from the start.  My plan starts purees on Day 3. I eat a lot of spice, now.  My surgeon's program actually recommends it especially during mushees to make it more palatable.

Not a vet but I was able to eat spicy food from 30 days out. Never had any problem with it. Love it.

I'm just over 2 months and I was adding hot sauce to everything once I got off liquids :) Now, I put pico de gallo or hot salsa or spices (we had Indian spiced shrimp for dinner last week). I actually like spicer things now more than I did before, everything has to have some serious taste to it or I don't eat it anymore. Weird, but true.

We use a lot of asian spices here at home and there have been no issues with it.

I would wait a few months, and really get into the good eating habits, before going for your "favorite foods".

But yes, you can eat anything you want to eat, once your stomach has healed and you are on a full food diet.

not a vet here.. but im a spice-fanatic (love to bite thai chilis with all my meals lol) so im a bit extreme! tho i couldnt survive on a day w/out any spice being of Indian origin too, so i started putting chilies, spices/ hot curry powders, etc even to broths & soups (full soup for me is a nice hot curry).. throughout my various diet phase progression, and had no issues. but my body's so used to this so guess it depends on how much your individual body can handle & tolerate

just my own experience & 2 cents.. good luck & enjoy!

I'm not really a 'veteran' either, but I was actually putting a little hot sauce in my broth within 10 days of surgery, out of sheer boredom. I eat plenty of spice still, and no problems yet!
