I got home yesterday too.  Doing ok, but having a very hard time getting the fluids in.  I'm sipping constantly, but have to go very slowly.  I still am retaining some fluid, but I can move my wedding ring fairly easily, so a lot has passed.  Gas is still an issue, but improving.  Good luck to you - hope you feel better soon!  Mary

congrats Mary!, its getting easier all the time, fluids are an issue for me as well, seems like I swallow a lot of air with fluids. protein is easier to get in, and I think fluids are more important at this point. so keep trying.....hugs....connie

My surgery was also 8/22.  I came home yesterday afternoon.  I have had a pretty remarkable recovery.  Not having much difficulty with pain or getting in fluids.  In fact, I am a little concerned that it is too easy to drink.  I am also having hunger pangs and that makes me nervous too.

I gained 8 lbs while at the hospital so it is somewhat distressing to see the scale moved in the wrong direction :(  I am hoping it will come off soon and then the weight loss will start.

I am scared that this is not going to work for me:(

mleena congrats, don't worry about the IV fluids it will come off fast, I'm glad you can drink fluids ok that's great. I feel at any rate there is NO WAY we can eat at the volume we were before, so that has got to help.....right? hang in there....hugs.....connie

I came home yesterday.  I didn't weight myself because I didn't want to see the scale go up because of fluids.  I might try to wait until I see my surgeon in 2 weeks.  Same here - having a hard time getting in fluids although I am sipping all the time.

Boomercd - what kind of protein are you using?

I did put part of one of the WalMart protein bullets in some crystal light, and it wasn't bad at all.
I had bought and drank a bottle of Isopure last week and it was tolerable.  I might get more of that.

Have not needed much in the way of pain meds at all.  I was still getting some stabbing gas pains last night, and my stomach just felt super full - to a painful degree.  I think my sips weren't tiny enough because that is much better today.

I also bought some Unjury unflavored protein powder, and am going to try that in some drinks and also in my jello.  Jello goes down really nicely for me.

Okay - having the surgical drain out was the most yucky/wierd think I have ever felt.  Not painful though.  The drain site seems to be the most painful one right now.
