This is a really good question.  My experience is that when I drink with my food, I get full much faster and can't get all the protein during my meal.  In addition, the water mixes with the undigested food and helps pu**** out of our stomachs much faster, making us hungry sooner then we would have been it we waited to drink.  In the end, we consume more calories because we start to graze.

your head twists off and pez come out of your mouth...kidding

you are more apt to puke, i can tell you that from experience. the water kind of sits on top of your food..also, your stomach empties sooner, leaving you hungry.

Please check out this video.  It may give you a better idea/visual as to why we dont drink and
eat at the same time. They suggest to wait an hour to drink after we eat.

That video is very good at showing what liquids do to soft foods.....mostly carbs.....

The video only tells half the story..... the author is trying to show you food going through the pyloric. What he illustrates is the pyloric valve in the open position.

The other half of the story and probably more important........The pyloric valve is just that....a valve....a valve opens and closes.
When you eat a dense protein like chicken for an example or any hard to digest food.....your pyloric valve closes to hold that hard to digest food in your stomach/sleeve for pre-digestion.

So now you have a tube (your sleeve) with a closed valve at the bottom and it has the food you ate in it.... Than you put fluid on top of that.......you don't have much room left cause your sleeve is filled up with food. The fluid can only go up......Up to another closed valve....you esophagus.....

So the time you wait after eating is the time it takes for the food to pre-digest and release into your lower intestine as your pyloric valve opens again.....

Hope this helps...
