We're only a day apart and I've been loving crab and shrimp! Go for it and enjoy!

Well I am day 5 and I had blended prawns yesterday with no problems whatsoever!  Never even considered that shellfish could be an issue.  My surgeon discharged me onto purees and they seem to be going down fine.  I'd go for it!

I had shrimp with no problem in less time than two months out.  I still haven't had crab.  I just looked at the menu for that place.  It looks yummy!  I go to Austin on September 7th, I might see if we can go there.  I definitely want to go to Pappasitos, even though it won't be the same.

Frieda's is a nice mid-range place up near where I live (almost to Cedar Park - be warned!). I like it because the food is always phenomenal and the Friday music is always on the patio so we can choose if we want to have a quiet dinner or listen to music.

Speaking of crabs since that is the topic my daughter went to her friends grandparents house and they went crabbing.  They sent her home with a crap load of crab seasoned and steamed, yummmm.  Only one thing.......I'm on pre-opp diet  Ughhh to look at those crabs laying there omg I want to eat one but surgery is Monday and I have made it this far.  Cannot wait to eat seafood again.  Oh is tilapia a good fish to eat???? I bought these individual wrapped ones at walmart and forgot bout them so now after surgery I hope to eat cause it's so soft and yummy can't imagine it would be hard to eat.  Thanks, Kerry

Tilapia is on my soft foods list, I can start eating it in week five. Hope that helps!

Well, I got there and our server said the ahi was expecially good that night and a nice rare seared ahi is one of my favorite foods in the world, plus it was their wasabi ginger soy so I could not say no. I only got down two pieces, gotta figure out a way to heat it up without cooking it too much though. LOL (or I could just eat it cold, it's sasahmi grade).

Try steaming it to heat it up, like you would some veggies.  That way it won't dry out.

Last time I checked, crab was a shellfish. I know if my surgeon told me no shell fish until 5 months... that is what I would do. but I guess that is me... and I am the one who has to live with me. For so many years I showed no committment to me and my health.. hence why I was 550 lbs. For many years I made excuses, and rationalizations to eat this or that, I guess knowing I have that tendancy, I know I have to stick to my surgeons plan to succeed... this is for life. My health is important and so is "me".... a moment of pleasure food can give is nothing.. to the pleasure of a healthier, lighter me.

Good luck in your journey.
