Problems with my Pre-Op diet.

For my Pre-Op diet, all we are allowed to have is Unjury Protein mixes, unsweetened applesauce, sugar free jello and pudding, and plain oatmeal.

Ufortunately,  ihaven't been very good at following it. I didn't have the protein that I needed for the first week because of some problems with shipping my order, and so I haven't been able to get in my protein since they're not very good with using other brands. Also, I've eaten some cheese, bread and a few other things I'm not suppose to. I'm worried that my liver isn't going to shrink enough to do the surgery laparoscopically, as that's the reason for the diet in the first place. I go back to school just 8 days after my surgery, and start training for my new job a few days after that so I have to get it done that way or I'll miss too much school and lose my job. I know that some surgeons have less restrictive Pre-Op diets, and some don;t have any at all so I was wondering how that worked in terms of liver shrinkage and if you though I'd be ok even though I've been bad.

P.S, Sorry if this makes no sense, but I'm running on no sleep right now.

Thanks.

You still have 5 or 6 days until your surgery date.   Just get yourself motivated and stay on the plan from this point until your surgery.   I'm sure you will be fine.

If you live alone, yoss everything in your fridge that is not on your diet in the trash!  Don't bring the enemy into the house!  If you don't live alone, You just need to stay strong for a few days.  Think about you looking gorgeous at goal and feeling healthy.  I had my sleeve done on 6/20/11, lost a total of 48lbs so far and I feel so much more healthy already.  You can do it- you are worth it!

We have surgery on the same day and I have to admit that I haven't been awesome on the pre-op diet either!  Can't say I have any real excuses either:(

Have you managed to lose any weight?  I am down 7 pounds from the time I met the surgeon so I am hoping that they will be pleased with that at least - and we still have 5 more days!

Best of luck to you - lets stay in touch and cheer each other on!

If that is all you are allowed to have, then that is all you must eat.  I'm sorry to be harsh, but come on.  This won't last forever.  And you are risking your life and health by not following your surgeon's requirements.

If you are feeling hungry, keep something going in your mouth constantly -- tea, Crystal Light, sugar free popsicles (a life-saver!), another protein shake, more jello ... something!  Don't give yourself a chance to feel hungry.  You will pee yourself half to death, but that is washing garbage out of your system.

If you don't get the junk carbs and sugar out of your system now, you will struggle like mad post-op.  You MUST get a grip now for your safety and health.  You can do it!

I agree with Dorothy. And ANY brand of protein would have been better than NO protein and I can't imagine your surgeon wouldn't have thought so too. That was a pretty lame excuse to allow yourself to eat off plan.

Put your big girl panties on and do this!  No more half ass excuses, just do it. Many of us had to do it and we survived...you will too.

We are pulling for you! Keep us posted!
