How many protein shakes a day!???

The bariatric doctor told me I should be having 2 30-g protein shakes a day - as snacks. She wants me to SIP an 11oz shake over 3 hours.

I'm gonna guess 'cause shes the doc that she was probably serious when she said this....but seeing as how I can not sit next to a refrigerator all day, my shake is going to be warm after 30 minutes.


I'm really over protein shakes, I know I need to do them, and I still do, but going from 1 now to 2 a day - yuck.  At least she told me I could drink muscle milk lite....

How many shakes a day at 2 months out? And is anyone else sipping them over a long period of time?

I only do I shake per day but I do drink 1/2 of it on the way to the gym or work (wherever) then the rest of it around 10AM. Couple of hours. I keep one of those thin silver insulated bags in my car and put the shake in there between drink times.

You may try making a water based shake with about 3/4 of the water and then continue to add ice while you drink. Or (and I would test this out 'cause I haven't done it) make one the night before and freeze it. Then drink it as it melts.

I don't have a protein powder to recommend that is good in water but I'm sure others can.

Two per day!  Yuck!  Sorry about that.  I mix up the Nectar powders so you could easily mix 1/2 or 1/3 scoop into water and then mix up the next batch when you are ready to drink it.  Or leave your muscle milk in the fridge and only pour out 30 minutes worth and go back for more small servings occassionally.  I personally hated the muscle milk light... I have three in my fridge collecting dust.  I need to toss them.  Seriously.  Yuck.  Glad you like them though!!

I am doing one shake per day.  First thing in the morning to get my energy up (and start off with fluids).  23g of protein in one of mine.  I get the rest of my protein from food.

For my weightless phase I did two a day and a meal. Just cause Im a lazy **** and it was an easy way to get in the protein and keep my calories low. Probably why I got to goal so fast. I mean they're not amazing or anything but I guess that didn't matter at the time I just wanted to get to where I was going. I still do one… sometimes two a day depending on where my protein is. I cant sip em cause like you said they are ******g gross warm.

I am not even 2 weeks out yet, but I really struggling to get 2 shakes a day in. Not because I can't tolerate them or because my stomach is too small, etc.... they just taste like crap and I dread making them and sipping on them.

I found the easiest way to get them in is to mix 2 scoops of powder (27 grams of protein) into a big mug of coffee and add some milk to thin it out. This is by far the best way I have found to 'mask' the protein flavor and just tastes like a big coffee drink. I have tried throwing in ice cubes and making 'iced coffee' but I find it just takes me longer to drink this way, goes down much faster and easier if keep it warm like a real coffee drink. Oh, I use Bariatric Advantage Vanilla powder. It turns out like a warm vanilla latte.

I could probably easily have one of these for breakfast, one for lunch and then just eat a small snack and real food at dinner time and that would do me fine for the whole day. HTH!

I still have 2 a day!  8oz for Breakfast.   6 oz for afternoon snack after workouts. and 8 oz for evening snack! 
I use the premier protein shake cause it has the 30 grams of protein per 11oz. and low in fat and carbs.  I put it in a cup and in the freezer till it starts to freeze aliitle then drink it -taste better that way.  but a small hand cooler with ice works for me when Im out!

Laurabelle. I use the premier protein shakes already mixed. its an 11oz box. has 30 gr of protein.  i get them at Sam's club! everything is decaf. I dont drink coffee but the tea is decaf. its easy to get dehydrated if one uses caffine.

it was either 2 premiere shakes a day from costco...
or
it was 1 premier shake a day plus and isopure

to get the protein in.

because your still not eating enough calories and food, its important
to get your protein in.   you can do it girl.  Just do it....

I find protein coffee is easier on my stomach and tastes better - and I can drink it in a normal amount of time.  My protein levels (per bloodwork) are low normal, and I'm trying to get them up.  So, even though I can get more than enough protein a day in food, I've started having a protein coffee in the morning to jumpstart things.  I'm having bloodwork done today, and if the numbers aren't where I want them, there's gonna be another protein drink added to my day.

Just remember that it doesn't have to be a shake.  Mix your protein powder in coffee, drink Isopure or Syntrax Nectar, put protein powder in soups, yogurt, pudding - just get the protein in.
