He wants you to lose 135 pounds in 6 months? That's not realistic. Ignore him. Do your best and be proud of yourself.

Thanks. I'm still going to try, we've seen plenty of people here do it, but it just seems insurmountable right now! Oh, I'm proud of myself. Everytime I get in the car and see all that extra space. Or everytime I put on my new pretty underwear. Or when my new 4X pants don't fit and now I need new 3X ones :)

Do whatever works for you. I like your determination. We need a lot of that to get all the way to goal.

Wow, you really did get alot of responses!  I hear you on what Dr. G wants you to do vs. what's best for you.  He wasn't doing/saying anything mean, he just has high goals for us.  I am sure I will hear the same thing when I see him in two weeks.  I promise to let you know!  I do find it odd that we are surgically two weeks apart, following the same plan, and both had stalls.  Seems like it is a regular occurrence but I am definitely not a doctor!   You are even doing more than I am at this point.  I will tell you that I upped my calories and I am losing a pound a day.  Odd, but true.  I am trying an experiment of sorts.  :-)  Can't wait to read others suggestions... I just love this site!

HOW are you gettin in extra calories? LOL! I think I'd have to go back to eating donuts to get it in at this point. I feel like I eat all day long!

Yeah, the 3 week stall is pretty common, I think. I respect the guy (a lot, he's so sweet), but I'm not sure if I can meet his goal... BUT I'm going to give it my best shot. I've got nothing to lose (but oh... 150 pounds or so) ;)

And here I thought all doctors had to take math in school!

He says he wants you to lose 4-5 pounds per week. You have lost 32 pounds in 7 weeks. That's an average of 4.5 pounds per week. What am I missing?

I think he meant after the initial loss. Doesn't matter. 7 weeks today. Gained 2 pounds so... 7 weeks, 30 pounds. WTF. LOL. I know, it's normal, it'll bounce around. I think I'll have labs drawn just to check things out.

This is one of those 'your mileage may vary' situations. You went through a big adjustment early on and may well do the stair step thing the whole way. I was steady as you go for months before going into stair-step mode. I would do what your doing, bu****ch and vary calories so your body doesn't' get into a rut.

Just as a point of reference, my surgeon expects 60% "excess weight loss" at 6 months.

Yup, same thing... 60% excess at 6 months, that's 135 lbs (ouch!) LOL. I'm going to just keep going and change things up a bit. This morning I was at a zero loss for the week. Nothing I can do but keep going!

If it makes you feel any better, I beat the 60% EWL target at 6 months. It's possible.  I was getting frustrated with the stop start thing that I'm doing now until I started adding up the numbers.  I've lost 11lbs in the last 4 weeks.  How mad can i get about that?  Up one this week, down 6 the next is not so bad.  I know that the 'up' isn't really up.  There's no physiological way that's possible, so I don't sweat it.

Good luck!  You'll be fine.
