Questions about labs

In the last week, I've gotten VERY VERY tired/fatigued/weak. I've been known to have severe insomnia, but I've been passing out around 7-8pm at night, and for the most part sleeping through the night, and this weekend, I've been napping all day. I have no energy at all.

I have two appointments tomorrow with my PCP and Bariatric doc of some sort.

I am going to ask both of them about it and see if I can get some answers, but as far as labs, what should I ask to have run? My PCP is kind of a ....well, she's a family med doc and her past lab requests have been less than complete so I'd like to have an idea of what I need to push for. I'd hope the bariatric doc would have a better idea, but Ive never met her before so I have no idea who she is/what she does (or for that matter why the hell i have to meet with her other than Kaiser said I have to)

It might just be that i'm getting sick (had some stomach issues and diarreah after being cursed with constipation for 2 months) but I want to make sure this doesn't go on too long.

Definitely ask to have your iron checked.  I need to get in and get mine checked, as well!  Let us know how everything pans out!

Complete blood count (CBC) to see if you are anemic, Iron and Iron binding capacity to see if you are iron deficient and complete metabolic panel to see you have an electrolyte imbalance or dehydration.  I've been told by one of the veterans that it took him until 3 months post op to really feel back to normal.   Good luck and feel better

I felt great the last two weeks and my energy levels were great and I was getting some pretty vigourous workouts in, but then one day, I just tanked. That's why Im thinking maybe a bug, but just want to have everything tested just in case.

I would say definitely push for full thyroid panel (including TSH and T4) and definitely iron level... probably 2 most likely culprits.

I would have them test EVERYTHING... just to avoid more than 1 set of labs.

CBC, Chem Panel, Thyroid Panel, vit. D, iron, hormones (to see if something wonky is going on)...

Good luck, hope you turn a corner soon!
