Have no fear!!!

Have no fear peeps!!!

I did an experiment this AM just out of curiosity! I had a 42 bougie sleeve when operated on. I am 3 years, 2 months and few days out!. Well, I haven't really measured a lot in the past years to really judge the portion sizes of my food. I go through phases and it doesn't last long. Well this AM on an empty stomach. I ate 3 ounces of plain chicken breast, was satisfied! took the other ounce off the chicken bones and it was a tad too much. I should of stayed at 3 ounces. So, you live by your surgeons orders and eat dense protein and veggies, fruit, carbs for your lifetime. Things should work out pretty well. Some days, I feel that I have stretched the ole tool right out. But, then go back to basics and realize, nope, I haven't. The grazing is a killer with carbs!

Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Donna....

That is awesome!!!!

Way to take care of your sleeve !!!!

Do you think you have taken better care of your sleeve because of your early complication?

I just wonder how how an early complication effects long term.....you obviously have a much greater investment in this process.... and I'm not talking just monetarily.....

HHHmmmm...

Good question... You know there is times I fear that if/when I eat too much it will open the leak back up. But, most times there is a signal that says stop. It's not even a physical signal that I go by. Then there is days that I feel, I better brighten up with all the complications, I had. But, time heals and I forgotten that I even had complications. When I had the leak, I stayed positive 95% percent of it. I disliked when my stomach contents burned the belly cavity. I disliked when they didn't believe me the stent moved up into my chest. Took them 5 days to figure that out and I had told them from day 2. I laid there at night puking up blood, what's their first clue. Or was the nurse's charting properly?..Dunno, but, I lived through it. I still have badass acid reflux now as a memory. My inners we so raw. OK..enough belly aching..LOL...

Truthfully...

Physcially thinking about it. I don't think it has changed it. Subconsciously maybe!

I am sorry, I am a little lost.  Did you ever suffer for a leak?  How long after your initial surgery did that happen?  Could this happen to sleevers if they overeat?

Thanks,

Santos

Hi Santos,

I had the leak from surgery out! Surgical error.. I had a leak for about a yearish.I left my surgical team at 9 months out and moved across the country. I had a family doctor taking care of my needs from here Calgary, AB when I got here. At about 18 months out Doc and I got a barium upper GI test done and it came back healed and sealed!..It took the doctors 4 month out after my surgery to even realize it was a leak. It wasn't for me not complaining. I even complained to my surgeon and he just said it was post op pains..Yeah, right! The day I was near death and couldn't even lay down for them to examine me, they ER doc that saved me ordered a MRI. I had a leak with 3 grapefruit size abscesses filled with infection. I was then hospitalized for 3 months..5 surgeries later, nothing helped. My body rejected all. It needed time to heal on its own. So I was sent home with JP drains and wound vacs. Was a fighter and got through the ordeal. Makes me stronger today..Maybe..LOL..I kept a positive mind (O;

Donna

PS. They say you can get a leak from overeating, but, can't confirm!
