Has anyone been told not to drink coffee post -op?

I've drinken Click (w espresso) and skinny lattes from starbucks and haven't had any problems.

So, this morning, after having not slept for a week because of a tooth ache, I decided i need a cup of coffee to even get going. I took my PPI about 30 min before I drank it, but OMG, i'm dying. I feel like i have major acid in my stomach, and its burning :((((

That was my last cup of coffee. I'd rather call in sick and sleep all day if I have to.

I just feel lost - my surgeon's materials say to avoid caffeine (which ok- might be a good idea) but seeing as how the other caffeinated items don't bother me, is coffee something that should be avoided all together? Obviously, live and learn, but man...

I'm 5 months out and have been drinking coffee (in small amounts, 4-8 oz per day) since my 3rd month. I too was a huge CLICK fan but the carbs got in the way of my weight loss at times so I had to cut back on it and go back to the real thing. I add brewed coffee to my chocolate protein shakes along with almond milk and a packet of NutraSweet in the AM. It truly tastes great! Bridges Center says to stop drinking any caffeine at all but then they contradict themselves and say it's ok to drink tea (they don't specify decaf either).
I say... Enjoy your coffee in moderate amounts. You have changed your eating life pretty drastically already without having to give up something as useful and enjoyable as a small amount of coffee too!

The acidity in coffee can be hard on your healing stitches, so my surgeon advised no coffee for the first three months.  After that I resumed drinking coffee.

For any pre-ops reading this, he gave me some advice that I thought made a lot of sense, and that was to eliminate coffee a few weeks BEFORE surgery, so that I wouldn't be dealing with the coffee withdrawal symptoms (which for me is mostly a low-grade headache that won't go away) while I'm also dealing with recovering from surgery.  So that's what I did, and it worked well for me.
