No Coffee???

Has anyone been told not to drink coffee post -op?

I've drinken Click (w espresso) and skinny lattes from starbucks and haven't had any problems.

So, this morning, after having not slept for a week because of a tooth ache, I decided i need a cup of coffee to even get going. I took my PPI about 30 min before I drank it, but OMG, i'm dying. I feel like i have major acid in my stomach, and its burning :((((

That was my last cup of coffee. I'd rather call in sick and sleep all day if I have to.

I just feel lost - my surgeon's materials say to avoid caffeine (which ok- might be a good idea) but seeing as how the other caffeinated items don't bother me, is coffee something that should be avoided all together? Obviously, live and learn, but man...

I drink it, and I love my coffeeeeeee !!! I think you have to figure out what works for you. My surgeon gave me the go ahead to have coffee at 2 months out. Ben back to it since. Sorry it isn't working for you today. You can always give it a rest, and try again in a few weeks....

I used to NEED at least one cup in the morning - but post surgery - I don't seem to miss it at all - even decaf no longer appealed to me.  Maybe it's that hormone that they took out.
Or - maybe it's because I was always drinking all the water I was suppose to because I never got that headache either.
But I just wanted to comment on what you said about feeling the acid - I've been taking a Tums or two after almost all my meals, due to more feelings of heartburn than I ever had before.
But I think it's OK because I need to add more Calcium

Knock on wood . . .  I've had absolutely no problems with anything.  First egg this morning - no problem!  I drink coffee daily since week 3.  You can reintroduce later anything that bothers you now.

We have to play it by ear.  I don't believe in these practices that tell us "no, never again ever in your lifetime".

Coffee is acidic!

Best,
Leila

My surgeon told me to hold off on caffeine until I was getting my full 64 ounces of fluids daily.  It tool me about a month post-op until I was and then I resumed a cup of coffee in the morning.  He wanted to make sure I was fully hydrated as caffeine can be dehydrating.

I drink a few cups a day-black, high test.  No issues at all.  Started 1 week after surgery.

I drink at least one to three cups a day, for the most part I'm fine but sometimes I do feel the acid. I do take my PPI daily though, that probably helps.

I have been able to drink coffee (I am only three weeks out) but I have completely lost my interest and desire for it. I NEVER expected that. It didn't bother my stomach, but then nothing really has bothered me so far.

Well Hun, Coffee is ACID....
You may want to wait longer before you drink it.

I stay away from it and I use to be a coffee drinker.
