There just isn't enough time in the day for me to explain some of the misinformation and why it's misinformation.  I can tell you just about anything about nutrition but it's just a very time consuming process.

What I can tell you is that there are people on the planet who survive harsh climates and live their whole lives eating nothing but meat, like traditional Eskimos and the reindeer herders of Russia (http://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/adventure-travel/europe/russia-reindeer-gretel-ehrlich.html).

I can tell you that our ancestors lived as hunter gatherers, mostly eating meat of wild game and thriving and evolving, and there wasn't much veg or carbs in their diet.  I can tell you we have no dietary NEED for carbs.. we can convert all the carbs we need from protein, fat (both dietary and body fat) but that nutrient dense veggies are OK to eat.

Fruit is mostly carb and not a very good source of fiber and nutrients, when compared to veggies.  If you want to learn more, I highly recommend the book Neanderthin by Ray Audette.  It will change the way you think about food.

I've read countless books on nutrition and scientific articles, and this was the one that really stuck with me. And while I can tell you all about nutrition and what a healthy diet is, ultimately you have to do what you have to do to actually make it LIVEABLE for you.

I have spent a long time refining my diet and I thrive on a very simple diet (both mentally and physically) of meat and small amounts of green veggies and not much else.  Over a lot of time I worked on the mental aspects and made that lifestyle LIVEABLE for ME.  But it took some time and sometimes when I get off track it's hard for me to redirect.

But what I have learned over many years of giving nutritional advice is that it really doesn't matter if I can tell you what is healthy because what's most important is changing your relationship to food.. that is the key to wanting to choose what is healthy.  That certainly is easier said than done.

Yeah what Sublimate said....the "diet" that we LIVE off now is just not natural for us...we eat foods out of season for all sorts of reasons etc etc.  Overall our bodies have ADAPTED to our environment and while some of us "need" certain foods, it's a need that has been placed on US and not derived from our true NEED for it.

Ultimately I often feel DRUGWASHED because my BRAIN knows all this but because of ALL the chemicals in ALL the foods my BODY craves it and chemically so does my brain.

I'm finding what works for me and it's a LONG hard battle and I just thank my VSG for it's help in the matter.
