Have you asked your Nut?  Mine said cream soups made with 1% or skim milk after week 2.  She said at this point they focus on protein and water.  Add a scoop or two of non-fat dry milk to increase the protein level as most off the shelf soups don't have much protein.  I don't have to focus on low fat until I hit 6 weeks.  I do have to try to stay below 600 calories a day.

Each NUT is different and they do know what THEY want you to do so give her a call.  That's what you're paying them for.

Good luck!  I hope your surgery goes as easy as mine did!

I don't THINK they make a low-fat cream soup BUT when you make the soup it's usually a concentrate that you can add WHATEVER type of milk or water you want to it.

Why would you want low fat? Your body needs the fat for healing after surgery, and you're going to get almost zero from the protein shakes.

Definitely get the full fat. Those calories are not going to matter in the first few weeks, it's so hard to get anything down.

Campbells makes low fat cream soups...try a regular grocery store. You can also try butternut squash soup and broccoli soup, very yummy and something different!!

Good luck on your journey, Hun!!

I like Anderson's Split Pea Soup. Fairly high in protein and not many solids to strain out.  I agree with the other poster: You will have better luck at a regular grocery store. Walmart's selection can be limited. For example, my Walmart does not carry the Anderson's Split Pea Soup or the 97% fat free chili.

It might have been wasteful but when I was on clear liquids right after surgery, I would buy low salt or low fat regular soups and strain them.  That would leve only the broth with remaining flavors but got out the chunks.

Then when I was allowed milk, I would do the same but add milk to the broth.  That made it creamier.

I also took soups (those without pasta or corn) and would put them in the blender.  Then I would strain them to get out chunks and viola!--cream soup.  It gave me more variety and better flavor/nutrition.

Campbell's 98% fat free cream of chicken or cream of mushroom. I added 1 can of water then strained out the chunks. Mmmm good! You can add a little unflavored protein too.
