6 week update

It feels like I had surgery way longer than 6 weeks ago. I'm really tired (mostly because sleep/stress issues) but otherwise life is starting to feel normal.

I'm disappointed in my weight loss - I'm only down 25 lbs in 6 weeks (which yes, I realize is approx 4 lbs/week which may be more than I could do without surgery). I'm starting to feel like it wasn't really worth all the pain, the missed social outings, the limited diet i've been on, etc. I'm sure I'll keep losing, but it doesn't really feel like it. I'm certainly not in love with this whole thing yet.

I've been eating about 600-750 cal a day. I am not super strict on carbs but I don't think I've ever really gone over 60 (and its usually only that high when I drink a lot of G-2). My protein averages 70-80 g/day, but maybe a handful of times it's been around 50. I drink easily 80-100 oz of fluids a day.

I was walking for a couple weeks, but then I cut my foot (again!), and I haven't been doing much of anything. I can't swim because I have a set of incisions that are taking their sweet time in closing up.

I am grateful that I have not had any serious complications, I am grateful for the 25 lbs I am no longer carrying around. I am looking forward to the day when I can say that this was the best choice i've made, but in the mean time, I'm looking forward to losing the next 10 lbs or so to be under 300 for the first time in....maybe forever :)

I know how you feel.  I'm  at almost 7 weeks, and not quite in love with this yet.  I've lost about 20 pounds since surgery.  This is way more than I could lose before, but with as little as I'm eating it seems like it should be more.  I had a stall for about a week and a half, so that was part of my problem -- it was really discouraging, but I think it's over.

Congrats on your efforts to be active.  You're doing better than I am on getting in your protein and liquid!  My biggest problem is constantly feeling like there's gas in my stomach every time in eat or drink anything.  I can hardly get the second sip/bite down.

Let's just strive to be patient and see where this journey takes us.  (((HUGS)))

Well, as of today, I have lost just 20lbs (3 lbs were pre-op), so I feel your pain. It seems like every week I lose quiet a bit less than I did the week before.

Having said that, I was thinking toady about how heavy a 20 lbs bag of dog food is. It helped me put in to perspective that at least I don't have to haul that thing around everywhere I go anymore! Maybe some time when you are at the store, pick up a 25lb bad of dog food and carry it around for a minute, it might make you feel better. It sure isn't something I want to carry around with me all day:)

I am sure in time we will get there. Maybe our skin will hold up better losing a little slower too. It sure would be nice to not need plastics. If it takes a year but I don't need plastics, I would take that over 6 months and needing plastics. That's just me though.

Hang it there girlfriend! I will watch your ticker to see if things pick up for you.

On my way!!!!!!

Hi Hun!

The sweet 25lb and no more . . . yet   WTH!!!  I'm there with ya sista'.  Our bodies will start to respond better.  You lost a huge chunk of weight pre-op!  I am sure that has something to do with it too.  Luckily we've been here and heard time and time again about the famous stalls.  Our bodies are probably just rebooting.  No way we are not going to lose - mostly eveybody here has - yes I know of some that have not, have not at all but we've proved that we can lose by lessening our caloric intake and being more active.  And we are not picking up those bloody 1000 caloried drinks at the drive thrus.

Keep your head up you beautiful woman.  The best is yet to come!

Best,
Leila

Good Morning!

Thank you for your honestly. I too had expectations in losing more than I did. Even though
a week before surgery I realized through other peoples stats  ( in their signature ) Sleever`s
lose an anverage of 6 lbs to 12 lbs a month.  The first month we lose our most weight.

If you use the Internet explorer browser, I have a long signature that shows you my
monthly weight loss.  This will give you an idea of what to expect in weight loss, however
everyone is different.  Pay attention to peoples monthly stats.  I notice when i use
firefox browser it cuts off the signatures to about 2 inches.

Anyhow, You may be going through having expecations ( that were not real) to what the
reality is.  Your weight loss will take about a year.  Once you accept this, you will freely enjoy
your sleeve more.

The first month is always the hardest because we try to figure things out.  Congratulations
with your 6 weeks.   If you can walk, please do.  Even if it is just a little.  Walking will help
ALOT!

When tha***** bitty ****ty committee goes off in your head and trys to negate your process,
STOP and pray,,, or just tell the MOFO to shooosh.  Say positive affirmations to yourself.
Tell yourself this IS the best decision you made.  Girl you lost 25 pounds in 6 weeks and that
in itself is AWESOME!

What you are going through is expecting to lose more.  Your body will not lose it fast like other
diets.  its a slow process.  As long as you follow plan you will be on track.

How I lose weight:  The scale doesnt move for about 2 1/2 weeks or so and then BAM  6 lbs
in a week.  Or I will lose 2 to 3 pounds in a couple of weeks then BAM more weight loss.
It just verys.

Just make sure you walk sip and rest.  Hopefully your foot is better.  Try wand walk.
My options class and NUTS say NOT TO DRINK GATORADE.  I know some have,
but I always wonder if they would have had more progress if they hadnt.  Just a suggestion
to stop and just drink your clean water.

Gurl!!!!  You are doing AWESOME..   its time you gave yourself some healthy affirmations.
Our way and old ways is to beat ourself up.  STOP...  its time to love you. LOVE YOU, i say!

Your Affirmations for the Day:
write it on your mirror in your bathroom please and also
stick it on your refrigerator.

" I love MY Body and Accept it as it is... Right Now... Today!"

I'm three weeks out and I'm a long way from loving my sleeve, too. I have a lot of stomach pain and back pain and I'm tired of trying to find something to drink or eat that doesn't hurt. It doesn't help that I have only lost 17lbs since the surgery. I lost 13 on the 6-day liquid diet before surgery, so I'm frustrated things are going to so slow.

But, here we are. We made our decisions and so now we have to stick with it. I just keep sipping and trying to make good choices. I do know that walking helps. My back is killing me right now, but I'm still walking because it does make the rest of me feel better. I just ice, ice, ice when I get home.

Hang in there. You are NOT alone!
