2 Week Surgerversary... Bowling with Kids sized ball?
Hi OH Friends,
I was thinking of going bowling tomorrow with friends and I was wondering what ya'll thought about it. I am two weeks post-op, approved to exercise, and feeling great. I have always used a kids sized ball (8 pounds). :-) Doc says not to lift anything over 10#'s for two more weeks. Do you guys/gals think it'll be o.k.?
Thanks for your responses!

As I remember bowling (it's been a long time), there's some stretching involved in the release. That could put some pressure on your incisions. You might also want to be careful since an eight pound ball moving in a swinging motion probably puts about the same amount of stress on your body as a thirty or forty pound ball that isn't moving like that. BUT, I'm all for exercise, so I'd say go for it, but just be very aware of what you're doing to the various muscles.
I totally agree with the other two posts. Eight pounds is pretty heavy even if you're cleared for ten. The g-forces involved in the action of "throwing" the ball make it weigh more than 10 pounds. You're insides are still healing and this could be very stressful on them. Maybe nothing would happen, but this is not something you want to learn the hard way about! I wouldn't try bowling for quite a while!!
