First dining out experience post-op
I ventured out for dinner with a group of people last night for the first time since surgery. I had to come out of hiding eventually before my friends completely forget about me!
I was expecting the worst. It was a Greek restaurant, and there aren't enough words to describe how much I love Greek food!! So i was bummed, but I looked at the menu ahead of time and saw the only thing I could have was soup.
The hardest part was all the bread/pita that was on the table while we waited for dinner. I had to grip my hands in my lap just to keep the urge to grab away. I didn't WANT any, but it was just a habit, so it was a weird combination. I did have about a 1tbs of hummus right before dinner was served - it was really good, and I was okay with such a small amount.
My soup was okay - very lemon-y, with little pieces of pasta noodles and chicken. I ate the broth, and had a few bites of the chicken. I got a few pieces of pasta (they were the size of rice grains) and they melted in my mouth, but I tried to avoid them as much as possible. It was a good diiner option - I'd probably order it even if I could eat solid food!
The place we went to was perfect for my first dining out trip - they had live music, dancing waiters who made customers get up and dance with them (and by waiters I mean very hot men !!!), so there was a lot of entertainment while we waited. Dinner lasted almost 3 hours!!!
Next goal: feel comfortable enough to dance with these hot waiters!

Oh that is exciting! It sounds like it was a very pleasant and successful dining out experience. It is amazing that your basically reliving your life all over again! Congrats, and what a great next goal! LOL!
Way to go!! Sounds like a really fun evening. Here is a thought for when your tummy can tolerate it. My greek restaurnt had a dieters menu that included jerk chicken wrap. Only had 140 calories 2 carbs and 20 grams protein. The wrap can be split in half so I only had 1/2 and took the rest home for lunch. Hope this helps. OOOMMMPAAHHH!!
