Mouth Swabs?

Hi Friends,
I am looking for suggestions as to where to find the mouth swabs that were suggested for use while still in the hospital.   I am already heading to buy the gas-X strips, and other last minute things before surgery on Tuesday.  Any other suggestions on what to have in the hospital or post-op at home are definitely welcome!  Yay, only 5 days!!!

What I have so far:
Robe, Slippers, comfy clothes, pillow for travelling home, shampoo, chapstick, phone charger... anything else?

Thanks friends,
Catherine

My hospital provided the swabs for me.  They were awesome!  Not sure where to get them.

My hospital had the swabs and gave me some to take home....I found the taste gross even though I normally love 'lemon' flavor.  My nurse put them into a cup of ice chips for me to dilute the taste and they were perfect.  Your hospital should have some for you.
Chapstick was my number one item!  I never put on my robe or slippers - my hospital had these cool gripper socks that they put on me in recovery.  "Keep your socks clean for when you get home," is what my nurse said.  I was prepared with everything you listed above.    Sounds like you're set!

I asked all of my girlfriends to drop off all of their old magazines and those were my #1 recovery item at home.  I'd wake up, read a little, snooze, walk, sip, sleep, read, etc.

I'm excited for you!

Thank you, your words of encouragement were great too.  I plan to follow the same regimen you did while recovering.  Have a great night!

There are 2 mouth rinses for dry mouth that you might want to purchase.  One is BIOTENE and the other is OASIS.  Both are alcohol free and will help with the mouth care.  BIOTENE also makes a gel that can be used instead of swishing.  Since they are mouth rinses you will be spitting them back out and not be tempted to swallow.  Your local drug store or Walmart should carry them.  Congrats on your date and you will be in my prayers!

Thank you for the words of advice and the brands of mouth rinses.  I am excited and have a bit of OCD.  I want to be as prepared as possible!

Biotene also has a mouth spray which I found to be wonderful when the ice chips got old. My hospital did not provide mouth swabs. I found it at Walgreens.

If you are going to NAMC, they didn't give me mouth swabs. I used Biotine spray and it was just great
