Unflavored Protein Powder

Yup, that's why we asked again at discharge. The first item on my discharge paperwork says "Stay on bariatric clear liquid diet for two weeks. Caffeine, carbonation, sugar free. Options include jello, browth, popsicles, protein drinks."

It does go on to say "weeks 2 to 6 will be full liquid and some puree food" but again, I'm paranoid and crazy ;)

The Nut paperwork I got when I did that appointment says Weeks 1-2 clear liquid but does mention milk (I'm lacto, so um, no). and then weeks 3-6 say full liqud.

I'm guessing he allows some wiggle room for week 2, like my appt is at the 10 day point, so hopefully he'll clear me for full liquids and some purees. I'm not having a problem getting water down and even did a full jello snack size today. I was quite proud. LOL

I use Isopure unflavored powder and get it from Vitamin Shoppe.com I mix it with sugar free Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate and it is good. The trick it to mix a scoop with a couple ounces of water before you add it to anything hot.

Thanks again everyone!  The Doc wants us on two weeks clear liquids post-op, then two weeks liquids, then two weeks pureed foods, then two weeks soft foods, then onto regular foods.  It's pretty strict but I am glad.

I think I am just going to have to grin and bear it with the Isopure as it is a clear liquid I can "put up with".  Not my favorite but I know I'll need the protein post-op.

Yeah, it's annoying. I've just been dealing with it. But if he doesn't give me more options on Friday... well, you'll know if they cancel all your appointments. *laughing*

You'll get the discharge info at your pre op appointment. And then again at discharge  I am SO sick of Isopure at this point.

It does have a taste - makes me think of baby formula, nasty.  It's only called unflavored because it isn't chocolate or vanilla or whatever.  It's not "tasteless".  I can't drink it in anything.  Only thing I can do with it is put in in the little cakes I make from eggface's WLS food blog.

Drink Isopure clear liquids.  That is what I lived off of the first 2 weeks.
The third week I added a RTD premier protein shake only to my food plan.

I have not used crystal light - but there is no taste or aftertaste to the product. It is the only protein I use now. I really ike because I hate all the other products out there. I do keep Isopure smoothie on hand for that time when I hav to run out the door quickly, and all the flavors are good.
