Dr. Aceves past patients, please help with this question.
My mom said the hospital cafeteria is fantastic!!!! Also, she raved about a restaurant across the street that is literally a train (train car). She said the food and drinks are great there and that the owner Joe is very hospitable! She also had dinner at a Chinese food restaurant directly across from the hospital. She said the food was good there too but you may want to take some chewable pepto-bismal prior to eating out a a cautionary rule. The food is sensational but the stress of travel and anxiety about a loved one having surgery can send your stomach churning. Tell her to be sure to drink plenty of bottled water and other non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated because the average high in Mexicali is 110-120 degree dry heat:-) Have a great trip!

My husband also really enjoyed the train car restaurant across the street. Joe was awesome to him! Hubby said it was one of the best steaks he's ever had. Also, at the cafeteria, one of his fav things to order was the fruit with yogurt and granola. He loved it! He wished he had discovered it sooner than the last day.
Thanks so much for the advice. It sounds like she will be set. I will tell her about the train car. She loves steak. It will be nice for her to be able to get out of the hospital for a while too.
We you able to leave for a while too or did you all pretty much stay there the whole time? Not a problem, just curious. I have never been to Mexico, so I thought it might be neat to get out a little if I am up for it.
Thanks to all *****plied to my post. My mom's tummy will thank you:)
