Strange pain

I woke up this morning (woke up is the wrong term because i dont think i ever went to sleep) with pain in my right side, maybe 4" above where my incisions are. It feels a little like something's pulling/pinching, sometimes sharp stabbing pains, sometimes a burning sensation.

My surgeon is in the OR working today, and I have an appointment tomorrow morning with the surgeon, but any one have any idea what it could be? I'm trying to avoid the ER since the the last ER doctor wasn't quite sure what my surgery entailed...but i'm definitely going if it get's any worse.

I can sit with no pain, but getting up and walking around is really uncomfortable. I'm having these visions of ending up in surgery again, which i really really don't want.

Oh no...feel better. If I didnt just have surgery on Friday I would come over and take you to the ER myself! Please feel better soon. If you need anything, I know I can't do much, but I am here for you.

You're too cute! I don' think it's bad enough to warrant a trip to the ER. Especially since i have an appointment in the morning, but thanks!!!!!

I just want to know if it could just be normal post-op pains or whatever.

Could be your gall bladder.  I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have had gall bladder attacks.  They happen on the right side of the stomach just below the rib cage, sometimes lead to heartburn as well, and often cause pain around the back and up to the shoulder too.  Of course they probably did an ultrasound to check for those already, but you never know.  I'm getting mine removed at the same time as my sleeve.....assuming it gets approved.  I'm in the very early stages of the process.  Another thing about the gall bladder, once a stone passes, the pain will subside, but you'll feel like a bloating on the right side in the same spot.  Usually, they last for as long as 3 hrs.  If they last much more than that, then it can become a blockage and may need to be removed immediately.  This is very severe pain that makes it virtually impossible to get comfortable in any position.  So, if that isn't what you are experiening, maybe it isn't your gall bladder.

Hopefully, that's not what it is, but if so, it's a quick fix and pretty simple procedure.  I'd go see the doc ASAP.

I hope you feel better!!!!

If they never did an ultrasound, then you could have already had stones.  No biggie if so.  Quickie surgery...like 30 minutes.  I hope it is nothing serious either way!!!!

Internal stitch?  Not sure - running a fever?  If not too sever and no fever, I think you can safely wait till morning.

Prayers headed your way!

Maybe - I have mild/moderate pain occassionaly, but no fever, nausea, vomiting, or anything. It's probably nothing serious. .

Sounds a little like what I had.  It ended up just being an internal stitch, but, man, did it hurt!  I was worried it was a hernia.  Mine was about an inch below my main incision--just to the left of my belly button.  If I was immobile, fine.  If I stood, walked, bent (ouch!!), it hurt.  Honestly, I think I just ended up tearing it loose last Monday, but I saw my Dr. twice about (the last time last Tuesday).  First questions were, fever, pain while eating or drinking--the answer was no.  My Dr. said it was fairly common.  So, yes, call your Dr., but I bet it just might be the internal stitch.  Best of luck,
Jenn
