What was your post-op experience? Good and bad.

Thanks for such a detailed account. I am glad to hear it went so well for you. I could certainly deal with that. It's about what I am expecting but I still worry that it will do way worse of course.

I am glad to hear about your hunger going away too. I have done low-carb diets before and lost almost all of my appetite. I am fairly sure it will be like that again but some people post for weeks that they are starving. That would not be fun.

Thanks for your post. I hope mine goes as well as your did!

I can't believe how easy my recovery was. I had breast reduction about 6 years ago. That was so painful! I expected WLS to be about the same. Not even close!

First of all, I had a nice chat with the anesthesiologist pre surgery. I told her I had trouble waking up and with nausea. Whatever she gave me did the trick. I woke up well and didn't have even a touch of nausea. I was walking the halls the evening of my surgery. I asked to get up because I wanted to - they didn't make me do it.

My worst pain was from the gas. Soon as it was gone my pain was gone.

I live alone and was a little worried that I might need help. I didn't need a thing. The first day home I was in bed quite a bit. Second day I had a nap. After that I felt great.

I hope you have a good experience. Not every one does, of course, but is seems like my experience is quite common.

One thing that seems to make a big difference in comfort is drains. My surgeon doesn't use drains. Some do. Not having drains may be why I was more comfortable right after surgery.

What an excellent recovery! I can only hope for it to go that well! I am pretty sure my doc does do drains. I can't say for sure, but I think so.

I am going to tell them about my history of nausea with anesthesia too. I don't think I have ever been knocked out and not woke up vomiting. I am optimistic based on your account that maybe they can fix that this go round. It is never fun to vomit after surgery but after stomach surgery, it would probably be way worse to get sick.

Thanks for your post. I sure hope mine goes as good as yours!
