Pre-Op Diet & Cheating - maybe a NSV? LOL
I'm on day 300 or so of this pre-op diet.
Okay, not really, it just feels like it sometimes. I'm on day 9.
Last night, I got it into my head that I wasn't going to do the surgery and I was going out to dinner and I was going to eat whatever I wanted and to hell with this whole idea. I'd lose weight on my own (nevermind I've been fat since kindergarden). I'm sure some of you know that mentality. I told my husband who just kind of listened and then he mentioned a few times about the liver and that I would change my mind and I was just PMSing and he totally understood, etc etc. But I basically said F-U and off we went to the Indian place. Naan, oh beautiful naan.
Which I didn't touch. I walked in and looked at the menu and realized I was being a complete brat and it was all a mind game with myself. I had tikka chicken (grilled chicken breast) and sautted veggies - which were totally on the pre op diet because they had very very little oil. I DID go over slightly the 9 grams of fat I'm allowed, but ya know... I stayed within the carbs and I did pretty damn good.
Can I claim this as my first NSV? *laughing* Because, let me tell you, I'm stubborn and how I didn't dig in... well, it's a miracle.
My big craving right now is Mexican. I love Mexican food. Specifically, I REALLY want Chuy's chips and salsa. Hubby is the cook around here and is going to bake chicken one night and top it with his own homemade salsa. I think I love that man.

Thanks. Surgery is 6/21 (it's listed under the photos for most folks on the left of the messages... I think mine says VSG 6/21/11)

Haha, I TOTALLY understand!!! We are surgery date twins and I am in the same boat at the moment! Sometimes I swear this diet is inhumane and should be illegal but then I just remind myself why I'm doing this and how awesome I am going to feel. The diet my doc put me on is super high protein shakes 3x a day with clear liquid snacks in between. I can have some non starchy veggies and 3oz lean meat once a week. It's been extremely difficult and I totally dropped my basket the other day and went a little insane on my roommate for no reason (but I'm blaming that on the stress and hunger LOL).
Good luck to you and remember, we only have 5 more days!!!!

OMG. Your diet is rough. I would have dropped the basket, thrown it in the garbage and murdered the nearest skinny chick. LOL. Hang in there. We can totally do this.
