Protein drinks (ranting, you can just ignore me...)

Hi Elaine - I did look at that one (I have insane notes about this stuff LOL) and the problem I saw was that it was only 15 gram of protein (rice protein) in 8 oz serving for 100 calories. It seemed low, although maybe I can add some of the unflavored stuff to it.. I might order some samples or try to find some and see what that looks like (tastes like, whatever).

Yes, it's frustrating. It's basically become a reason to laugh around here though... I mean, seriously. The good news is that almost all are dye free (we are a dye free household as well).

You're right about the ratio of protein to calories. But, if it's OK  with your surgeon, I wouldn't worry too much about calories in your pre op and post op liquid phase.  It's protein and fluids that's the most important.
So if you could find a product to mix with water/flavorings or something to make it taste OK you should be alright, I think.

Yeah, they want me to get in 70 grams of protein after surgery and 64 oz of water. That's a lot of protein. I dunno. I'm frustrated tonight, but tomorrow is another day... pick myself up by my bootstraps and move on... I'll call the NUT if I've not figured it out by Friday.

I believe Jay Robb makes an Egg Protein powder...

Yup, I've ordered samples of their whey and egg protein powders (tonight actually). Fingers crossed for at least a LIGHT vomit taste. ;) Something. Anything. I'm starting to think "tastes good" is probably not in the cards, but...

I think that Jay Robb Whey protein is among the smoothest powders out there and I like that it doesnt' contain any artificial colors or sweeteners.  I think there is much less of a protein powder taste to them as well.

I use the individual packets and found them at Vitamin Shoppe.  I only use 1 a day now (except weekends) and buy 3 of each flavor which lasts me for 2 weeks.  Much easier to use than the canisters for me.
