My brother and I are spending time together this weekend..Normally we hang out for a bit then I go nap..This weekend we have been out and about, doing chores and errands, spending a few hours cooking also..

He said to me, "I don't even know who you are. This is not like you at all. You are hanging out, going everywhere without complaining, not going to sleep."

I often forget but he pointed it out -I have TON more energy, I am way less grumpy and complainy when we do errand after errand. I cooked for 3 hours yesterday and didnt have to sleep after due to fatigue and back pain, I am up early and stay awake through out the day...

I know carrying extra weight affected me but sometimes I forget about how much more I am able to do..This VSG is a wonderful thing.

Have you had the same benefits?
I hope so.

xo

I used to sleep in everyday. I would beg hubby to watch the kids so I could sleep longer. Now even if i've only had 4 hours of sleep I get up and get going. I love being alive!

I've had pretty good success (by my estimation, anyway) as far as the loss goes but man, I have yet to run into all this extra energy I hear people speak of! I'm pooped all the time. Physically tired and emotionally drained. Weight has dropped but the other stuff has stayed the same.

Dont worry, I was one of the ones who had fatigue for 3 plus months post-op..You will get your energy back soon, promise. Make sure they check your bloodwork too- My low potassium added to the fatigue.

We forget that this is MAJOR surgery and can take months to recover. Even the anesthesia can take its toll.

You're not alone, I am in the same boat as you... good weight loss but no energy.  Honestly, I have far less energy lately than before surgery and far more pain.  The only thing I can say is that I can, if necessary, walk further than before, but when I do, I pay for it with more fatigue and pain.

Good to hear! I've always been the 'lame' one of my group of friends because I prefer to stay in - it'd be nice to have the energy to hang with the rest of 'em!

I haven't had any blood work done yet - as far as I know, I won't be bac****il September for any of that.

Oh, less energy than pre-surgery? Well that's kind of a bummer, eh? I haven't run into that but I certainly don't have any MORE than before.

PK-

FYI my surgeon isnt really into follow up and didnt seem concerned when I told him of my fatigue (nice, huh). So I went to my reg doctor. simple, easy, had some bloodwork and she found and treated the problem (which can be dangerous if left untreated). if fatigue persists dont feel bad going to your regular doc also if it is more accessible.
